🚀 Star Citizen News: October 4, 2026
Period: October 3, 2026 04:05 → October 4, 2026 04:05 UTC. Sources: YouTube, Reddit, Spectrum, Patch Notes, emails, Discord
TL;DR
- 🔧 Alpha 4.10.2 moves to PTU All Waves (build 12852255): ship rentals as contract rewards, salvage rebalanced for Stanton event, and nine technical fixes.
- 🪐 Genesis (Planet Tech V5) testing on Nyx I appears to have closed on the morning of October 3, without an official CIG summary: the community has stepped in with its own impressions and a first look at Nyx II.
- 📐 A Reddit thread corrects yesterday's rumor: Nyx I is apparently not larger than current planets, contrary to what some tester accounts claimed.
- 🔐 On Spectrum, frustration over Genesis secrecy is climbing sharply (over 300 votes now), while game access locking continues to fuel questions and concerns.
- 💰 The verse by numbers: $138K collected yesterday (total $1.05B).
🔧 Patch notes and official CIG announcements
The PTU reaches a milestone: after restricted waves in previous days, Alpha 4.10.2 is now open to all testers. Live remains on Alpha 4.10.1.
Alpha 4.10.2 PTU, build 12852255 (All Waves)
Audience: all waves. Server: PTU channel, US only. Long-term persistence (LTP) enabled between PTU versions. Testing focus is on stability, fixes, and new missions for the ongoing Stanton event.
- The in-system Stanton event evolves: ship rentals can now be assigned directly as contract rewards, with the single-use delivery contract relying on this mechanism rather than a mission modifier.
- Salvage reward values have been rebalanced for the event, and additional unmanned ships have been added to the contract pool.
- Mining and salvage contract descriptions now explicitly state that excess materials will not be refunded. The clarification has not gone unnoticed: a Spectrum thread wonders about this sudden clarification (see Spectrum section).
On the fixes side, nine potential fixes are on the agenda for this build:
- Event reward badges were not all being awarded to the player account.
- A section of Orison's landing pad was missing collision; exterior hall openings now have invisible collision to ensure physics on both sides of the interior/exterior transition.
- Exploration suits displayed four consumable slots for legs when only two were usable.
- The female Doom undersuit helmet appeared transparent at several levels of detail.
- A hostile missile turret was located at a contract event recovery site.
- Hunter 3 armor in Shiny White and Shiny Black tints (chest, arms, legs) were displaying in their base gray and charcoal variants.
- Player hands were using crate carrying animation when holding Hunter 3 arm and leg armor pieces.
- The Pembroke Star Chaser armor preview was still showing the base orange color instead of the expected white and purple.
- Some LEDs on the Zeus Exploration helmet flashlights were not displaying and did not match the reference image.
Genesis (Planet Tech V5): testing on Nyx I winding down
The testing round dedicated to the new planetary engine, which opened during the night of October 2-3 on Nyx I (technology details in yesterday's edition), appears to have closed during the morning of October 3: several creators who followed the event mention its closure, though CIG has not yet issued an official summary or date for the next round. In the absence of official feedback, the community has filled the void with its own observations: see the Videos and Leaks & Datamining sections below.

- Star Citizen Will NEVER Look the Same : Genesis Planet Tech Is Here!
The creator presents the new Genesis planetary rendering pipeline as a major visual turning point for the game, drawing on first available images of Nyx I and explaining, in accessible terms, what physical object placement and new terrain shading concretely change on screen.

- Nyx 1 First Impressions: Biomes, Mining & Exploration
From images officially released by CIG, the creator details the biomes traversed on Nyx I (grasslands, desert) and hand-mined minerals found there (titanium, quartz, bauxite, gold, tin), being careful to note that some elements, such as the presence of aphorite or hadanite, are based on unconfirmed leaks. He also notes a colleague's account of extracting a rock weighing 2500, significantly higher than what is typical today, while refraining from any certainty about what this portends for the planned 4.11 version in November.

💬 Spectrum: summary of most discussed topics
The forum remains dominated by two major issues: mounting exasperation over Genesis secrecy, and game access locking that continues to generate its share of practical questions. In the background, debates on ship overhauls and a handful of miscellaneous suggestions occupy the rest of the activity.
The NDA on Genesis, still a point of friction
Genesis Tech-Preview under NDA? Please lift it! continues climbing: the thread now exceeds 300 votes, up from about 220 yesterday, proof that the desire to see the community speak freely about the new planetary engine shows no sign of fading. In echo, i miss you, oh beautiful sandbox expresses broader nostalgia for sandbox gameplay, in a context where attention is focused on technology rather than playable content.
Access locking and Squadron 42 anticipation
Practical questions around locking, which came into effect in early October, continue with Regarding the subscription lock feature and Game Package locking; Timeline?, while Will My Reclaimer Pledge Become Useless? worries about a pledge's long-term value in the face of future ship overhauls. The countdown to Squadron 42 also fuels discussion: Just one week left until the SQ42 hype-fest and Is SQ42 my AAA goal? anticipate the restricted testing session announced for next week, while If you are worried about SQ42 packages... attempts to reassure about the fate of campaign-linked packages. None of this is confirmed by CIG: these are player interpretations and anticipations.
Ships: between overhauls and suggestions
V2 Ships and the elephant in the room and MKx ships continue the debate over the pace and logic of ship overhauls, while Remake Anvil Liberator calls for a full overhaul of this aging carrier. Support focused ships? AWACS/EWAR/ETC meanwhile imagines a new category of electronic support ships, still absent from the game.
Bugs, irritants, and small ideas
Two players report loss of their equipment: My entire loadout was removed and Why the heck is my loadout gone, why is the game still so buggy? converge on this same frustration. Several threads question specific gameplay points: Nyx 1 visuals question, Trees, rocks, and radar., Any thoughts to what the Biosign Monitor might do? and Riccite. Others advance specific suggestions, such as Ammo Looting Idea, Music in game, We need quantum boost, Game region lock or, in a lighter tone, Idea/request for a new mustache. Finally, What would make Star Citizen awesome again? 2014 backer thoughts. and Long Live the Dream each offer a long-term retrospective look at the project, between attachment and impatience.
💬 Reddit r/starcitizen (by theme, general sentiment)
The sub remains focused on Nyx I, between curiosity about the new planet and some clarifications tempering yesterday's excitement. The overall mood is rather playful, driven by community art and a keen sense of self-deprecation.
Nyx I: impressions and clarification
After yesterday's excitement over the planet's size, Just to clear the speculation Nyx I is not bigger then current planets contradicts, with images to back it up, the notion of an exceptional planet. More qualitative feedback continues with Will say the desert looks cool and How about the mountains & cliffs in tech preview?, which seek more details about the mountainous terrain shown by CIG. Curiosity goes beyond mere viewing: Nyx 1 3D model made from a leaked map shares a 3D model created by a fan from a leaked map, and Early View Of Starchitect buildings + Guild Quest Screens ! relays a video from creator X3NON (see also Leaks section). Genesis/Planet v5 + Quantum Boost ! and Things in Tech-preview are not supposed to look polished. Looking back at Evocati 3.23, the water effect was pretty wild back then. round out the picture, the latter usefully reminding that early technical testing is not meant to be polished. And on Wait to judge the images see on Discord, a player explains that captures deemed washed out on Discord channels don't reflect the final render once gamma is adjusted.
Ships: appreciation, leads, and speculation
This thing got no business beeing so damn good praises the Aurora MkII, judged surprisingly versatile for its price against the Avenger Titan. The Kruger D10 Komet lead, spotted yesterday in datamining, already fuels speculation with New Kruger ship, which wonders about its armament without being able to confirm anything. New constellation next patch notes that the Constellation Mk4 appears to have disappeared from PTU shops, a clue some interpret as announcing an Mk5 for the next patch, without official confirmation at this stage. Have you guys seen the new Pisces turret? shares, without further detail, the spotting of a new turret for this small ship.
Verse life and good humor
On the anecdotes and mood side, Bought the game a week ago - I love it. tells of a newcomer's enthusiasm despite hesitant beginnings, Good RNG this time! celebrates a particularly generous mining vein at Golem, and Solo Pilot Tip! shares a solo flying tip on remote-controlled turret ships like the Perseus. In a more acerbic tone, NPC Kamikaze describes NPCs who seem to deliberately charge manned turrets, Bedlogging and Fear to Lose Everything each report item loss after disconnecting in bed or attempting ship recovery, and Is Orison Relieved Yet? grows impatient to see the Orison reconstruction event, still ongoing, finally conclude. On the creation side, Pen Plotter "Blueprint" Fan Art shares a pen plotter drawing inspired by the game, and THIS JUST IN: INSURGENT KNOWN AS "WICKELO" PLANS TO INVADE NEWLY TERRAFORMED GENSIS PLANET... pokes fun, in the style of a fake news bulletin, at the Wikelo merchant and the new planet. One final thread, Who decided this was right?, shares a screenshot that provoked reaction without its exact intent being explicit.
💬 Discord: what's circulating on the servers
News channels mostly relayed the opening of the 4.10.2 PTU All Waves build in the same terms as the Patch Notes section. The rest of the notable activity, Genesis test imagery and videos on Nyx I, transited through leak channels: it is detailed in the Leaks & Datamining section below.
🕵️ Leaks & Datamining
Unofficial content from community datamining: subject to change, never confirmed by CIG.
Creator X3NON shared three videos shot during Genesis testing back-to-back: Starchitect Buildings | Planet Tech v5 | Star Citizen
, Nyx I Swamp | Planet Tech v5 | Star Citizen
And Nyx I | Planet Tech v5 | Star Citizen
, providing a moving preview of buildings generated by the new system and a swamp biome never before shown.
More unexpectedly, a batch of renders shared on community channels introduces, alongside already well-documented Nyx I, a first preview of Nyx II, a planet whose existence had not previously been mentioned in the content tracked by this newsletter.
Render of Nyx I shared as part of the Planet Tech V5 test (October 3).
First known render of Nyx II, discovered in the same batch of images (October 3).
Other test captures, without original captions, also circulated on leak channels without providing additional identifiable information.
