This policy explains how Cavalera collects, uses and protects your personal data, in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The guiding principle is minimization: Cavalera only collects what is strictly necessary to send a newsletter, which is almost nothing.

The site is hosted on a server located in the European Union (OVHcloud, France). Technical data is processed in server logs: IP address, browser type, operating system, referrer, timestamp. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in providing a functional and secure site. Logs are purged automatically and are never used for profiling.
You can subscribe with your email address alone. The subscription is only activated after confirmation via the link sent to your inbox (double opt-in). We store your address, proof of consent and the editions you follow. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR (consent), withdrawable at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email.
If you create an account to personalize your edition, authentication goes through Google or Discord (OAuth). We receive: your display name, email address, avatar URL and a unique provider ID. We never receive or store your password. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR.
Subscribers: email address, confirmation status, reading preferences (sections, YouTube channels, order, language), followed editions. Edition creators: display name, branding of their space, Discord webhook they configure. That's all: no advertising profile, no cross-referencing with third-party sources.
Brevo (France) handles email delivery and double opt-in, within the EU, GDPR-compliant. OVHcloud (France) hosts the site. Editions published to community Discord servers via webhook contain no subscriber data.
A single signed session cookie keeps you logged into your space, plus a language preference cookie. No tracking cookies, no third-party analytics, no advertising cookies.
Access, rectification, erasure (one-click unsubscribe in every email, full deletion on request at contact@cavalera.news), portability, objection, and complaint to a supervisory authority (in France: CNIL, cnil.fr).
Your data is kept as long as your subscription or account exists, then deleted. Aggregated anonymized statistics may be retained as they identify no one.
