Key points

  1. 🔧 A new PTU 4.10.3 build (Wave 1, 13032516) significantly powers up the Vanduul: Mauler weaponry becomes considerably more dangerous, a new LBCO Skarnov rifle arrives, and the 4 GB Vulkan shader cache limit is removed.
  2. 🎖️ Squadron 42 has been rated 18+ by German classification body USK, for pronounced violence, drug use, and sexual allusions.
  3. 💢 On Spectrum, a thread titled "Bricked ships are killing the best moments this game could have" crystallizes anger around unusable ships, a theme echoed across several related threads.
  4. 🕵️ Datamining the new build pinpoints exact weapon damage gains for Vanduul arms (up to x13 on the Annihilator cannon) and spots a BMM holo at IAE as well as possible delays of the Anvil Auxilia and Greycat MFC to 4.11.
  5. 💰 The verse in numbers: $390,696 collected yesterday (total $1.059B).

🔧 Patch notes and official CIG announcements

Live remains on Alpha 4.10.2, but the PTU received a new Alpha 4.10.3 build (Wave 1, version 4.10.3-PTU.13032516), still focused on stability, fixes, and long-term persistence (LTP) between PTU releases.

Vanduul Incursion: ramped-up power

Vanduul Mauler weaponry is made considerably more dangerous. The combat music for the "Welcome To Nyx" scenario now triggers during encounters with Vanduul, and the tension detection system, previously inactive, has been reactivated. Ship boarding objectives ("Board Ship") have also been revised and rebalanced.

The leaks Discord channel allowed precise quantification of this power increase via datamining (see Leaks & Datamining section): the Mauler "STRIKER" (size 6) damage would jump from 64 to 250 alpha damage, the "IGNITER" (size 9) from 15,000 to 55,000 damage per second, and the "ANNIHILATOR" (size 10) from 15,000 to 200,000 damage per second, a multiplication of over 13 for the largest Vanduul weapon.

New FPS weapon: LBCO Skarnov rifle

A particle light has been added to the secondary fire mode of the LBCO Skarnov rifle, and its magazine capacity is now fixed at 30 rounds, ending an inconsistency between the weapon description and its magazine description.

Shader cache: end of the 4 GB limit

The 4 GB size limit on the Vulkan pipeline cache has been removed. Full caches exceeded this limit and were previously outright rejected on load, depriving players of precompiled cache benefits. Existing caches will need to rebuild once with this new build.

Fixes

Eight potential fixes accompany this build:

  • Life support being able to significantly exceed 100%.
  • A vehicle depressurized inside a planetary zone failing to recover its atmosphere, leaving occupants freezing or suffocating.
  • mobiGlas contract menu scrolling getting stuck, preventing browsing of available contracts.
  • Ships clipping into the hangar loading platform when retrieved from an ASOP terminal lobby.
  • The option to pay an impound fine missing from the ASOP interface when a ship had been impounded.
  • Hostile mission AIs appearing then remaining immobile for 20–50 seconds before engaging.
  • Mission descriptions pointing to derelict outposts when objectives were actually in a UGF bunker; these locations are now described as abandoned facilities.
  • An inconsistency between the LBCO Skarnov rifle and magazine descriptions regarding capacity, now fixed at 30.

Four of these fixes come directly from Issue Council reports: life support overage (STARC-205396, 249 contributors), ship clipping in hangar (STARC-137501, 101 contributors), mobiGlas contract scroll lock (STARC-190800, 83 contributors), and missing impound fine on ASOP (STARC-205713, 39 contributors).

💬 Spectrum: synthesis of most discussed topics

The general forum has taken on a notably more assertive tone than the previous day: anger over "bricked" ships (rendered unusable) dominates the day, and several threads call for targeted fixes on specific ships just recently brought back by recent releases. No official -CIG responses were spotted on today's threads.

"Bricked" ships: the contentious topic

Bricked ships are killing the best moments this game could have is by far the day's most active thread with 110 votes and 86 replies: its author describes situations where a ship becomes permanently unusable due to a bug, ruining sessions that could have been memorable. The subject continues directly in CIG, if you can Brick ships..., which requests that the same technical system capable of detecting a "bricked" ship serve to automatically repair it rather than leave it abandoned.

Following recent releases, the list of requested fixes grows

With the arrival of new ships in recent weeks, several threads call for old ships not to be forgotten: With the clipper out, can we fix the Zeus ES? (41 votes, 24 replies) and Now that the Mk5 is out, can we fix the TAC? (19 votes, 32 replies) share the same logic: each new release would be an opportunity to fix an older model left behind. In a similar vein, the multiplication of Constellation Mk V variants fuels its own discussion in The Constellation MK5 Variants, while players compare configurations in What MKV setups are you all using? and another inquires about a possible Taurus edition of the Connie Mk V.

Mission difficulty and combat danger

Recco "Mining Opportunity" Mission: Another example of trying to run before you can walk. (28 votes, 8 replies) criticizes a mining mission deemed too demanding for an introductory level. This observation extends to space combat terrain with Could CIG make Ship battle more Dangerous ...., calling for riskier encounters, and Can we address the Idris Decoys/Flares?, pointing out a countermeasure imbalance on the capital cruiser. On a more social note, Should gangs protect their own interests? (15 votes but 60 replies) sparked a lively debate on the place of player gangs in the game's ecosystem.

In brief

A rather anecdotal bug also garners discussion: the Sabre Raven ex spawning without engines in Arena Commander. Worth noting are three modest but revealing threads about community life: a request to keep the hoverbike in the hangar when pulling out a ship, a report of crafted item stats moving to another object, and a request for the Anvil Liberator, to be connected with the datamining information on IAE detailed below.

💬 Reddit r/starcitizen (by theme, general sentiment)

The subreddit's tone today is split between technical pride (a brand-new ATC at New Babbage), perennial hangar debates on the best ship, and a healthy dose of self-deprecation about the skybox or small personal daily victories.

New Babbage equips itself, and the community comments on Alpha 4.10.3 updates

New Babbage International Space port ATC in 4.10.3 shows the new air traffic control at the already heavily trafficked New Babbage spaceport, an addition praised as IAE and free-fly traffic loom. Another thread, Lib confirmed at IAE, thanks community data miners for information on the Anvil Liberator's presence at IAE: at this stage, this falls under datamining work rather than an official CIG announcement (see Leaks & Datamining section).

Squadron 42 makes waves overseas

The topic of Squadron 42's 18+ rating by German classification body USK generated its share of reactions, between curiosity over the game's mature content and jokes about the nature of the rating (see details in Squadron 42 section).

The eternal hangar debate: which ship for which purpose

Between Change my mind: the Spirit C1 is the Civic of SC, defending the multi-role Spirit C1 as the verse's reliable compact car, and The Ironclad, fully embracing the inefficiency of solo-piloting this massive hauler for fun, the subreddit also wonders about combat with What do you think, which of the two ships would serve you best for a real combat? The Shark or the Perseus? Why?. On a more forward-looking note, The Caterpillar should get the next rework argues, citing past John Crewe comments, that the old Drake hauler would be the ideal candidate for the next ship rework, Drake's production pipeline seeming already polished after the Ironclad and Kraken.

November 1st deadline: hangar choices under pressure

I was wrong about the Mk V recounts how November 1st's approach, and the risk of seeing one's current game package freeze before changing tiers, pushes some players to reconsider Phoenix vs. Mk V arbitrage despite choices already made weeks earlier.

Technical and gameplay requests

Let's talk about NPC turret gunners in Star Citizen details a complete proposal for hiring NPC gunners, with hiring costs and contract deductions. On the technical side, two threads (FSR SDK 2.4 Officially released and AMD has released FSR SDK v2.4.0 with support for Vulkan) relay AMD's FSR 4 SDK release with Vulkan support and hope for quick integration by CIG, though no official announcement has confirmed this project. More assertively, Let's flood CIG with this until they give us Nyx. Give me Genesis! renews community impatience around the Nyx system and the upcoming Genesis update.

Small victories and small daily headaches

I did it boys! celebrates the symbolic milestone of 100 million aUEC earned honestly, while This is why I hate the skybox relaunches recurring criticism of the game's repetitive stellar backdrop.

This is why I hate the skybox A player illustrates the repetition of the same star patterns in the game's skybox (28/10).

💬 Discord: what's circulating on servers

Tracking channels confirm in real time the release of the new 4.10.3-PTU.13032516 build detailed in the Patch notes section, relayed word-for-word by relay bots as soon as official notes are published. An earlier message, posted in the afternoon, already announced that a new build revision was being prepared for a PTU Wave 1 update, confirming this release was expected by the test team several hours before. This same testing window fuels most of the datamining discoveries detailed below.

🎖️ Squadron 42

Germany's entertainment software classification body, the USK (Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle), is reported to have assigned Squadron 42 an 18+ rating, citing pronounced violence, the presence of drugs, and sexual allusions. The information is relayed by a Reddit thread as well as on r/Squadron42, without any CIG communication yet confirming or commenting on this rating. For comparison, this rating roughly corresponds to a PEGI 18 or ESRB Mature classification, and would confirm, if accurate, the mature tone already announced by CIG for its solo campaign.

🕵️ Leaks & Datamining

Unofficial content from community datamining: subject to change, never confirmed by CIG.

The new 4.10.3-PTU.13032516 build is the day's primary source of discoveries, and precisely quantifies the Vanduul weaponry overhaul announced in official notes. The Mauler "STRIKER" (size 6 repeater) would see its alpha damage jump from 64 to 250, the "IGNITER" (size 9 beam) its damage per second rise from 15,000 to 55,000, and the "ANNIHILATOR" (size 10 cannon) explode from 15,000 to 200,000 damage per second, a multiplication of over 13 for the Vanduul clan's heaviest weapon.

Ahead of IAE, two vehicles previously featured on the event map, the Anvil Auxilia (a general-purpose truck) and Greycat MFC (a mobile fabricator), appear to have been removed from the selection. Both devices feature a vehicle fabrication function present in the future transition point 4.11 Genesis, suggesting a delay of their release to that version rather than IAE; they've been replaced in their original slots by the Centurion and MDC.

A large BMM (Banu Merchantman) holo, not yet animated, was meanwhile spotted in IAE's entrance hall, a staging reminiscent of that reserved for the Kraken at this year's Defensecon. This is not confirmation the ship is imminent: the Kraken's Defensecon presence then served to confirm its launch for the following year, suggesting, without certainty, that the BMM could target IAE 2027.

Lastly, a Reddit thread relaying community data miners' work indicates the Anvil Liberator would be available for sale at IAE; this information has yet to be confirmed by any official CIG source.
