- 💬 On Spectrum, a proposal to move hunger and thirst regeneration from medical beds to ship galleys already gathers 145 votes, a sign of continued appetite for reworking daily gameplay loops.
- 💰 The verse in numbers: $234,901 collected yesterday.
🔧 Patch notes and official CIG announcements
No new patch notes were released today: Live remains on Alpha 4.10.2, while PTU continues running under Alpha 4.10.3 (Wave 1). Patch tracking channels report, however, that this PTU is currently offline: CIG is preparing a new build for IAE (the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo, the annual ship sales event), a build that must first pass through Evocati testing. PTU's return is announced for today. Testers with access to this advanced Evocati build suggest, in a still speculative manner, that this new build could carry version number 4.10.4, and that version 4.11 would not be scheduled for the IAE period.
The standout development of the day remains CIG's publication of a detailed FAQ on updates to pledge gifting and game access, which clarifies an announcement made shortly before. The new rules take effect October 30:
- Only items displaying the "Buying as a gift?" option at checkout can be gifted.
- The gift is no longer credited directly to the buyer's hangar: it is sent by email to the recipient with a redemption code, to be used from the redemption page.
- The recipient must have an RSI account with a confirmed email address to claim the gift (they can create this account after receiving the email).
- You must be logged into your account to gift or claim an item; store credit cannot be used to pay for a gift.
- Badges and benefits tied to the purchase go to the recipient who claims the gift, but the referral credit remains credited to the buyer.
- An unclaimed gift is automatically refunded to the buyer after 30 days, who is notified by email.
- Gifts already in hangars and old gift codes remain valid and usable via the same redemption page.
- Sending a gift is now immediate and automatic: it is no longer possible to schedule it for later.
On Reddit, several players welcome the measure, seeing it as the outright end of informal ship trading between players: the thread CIG effectively just killed the gray market in one fell swoop... holds that the fact of no longer being able to keep a ship in hangar before deciding to gift it later amounts to blocking most informal resales. This is a community reading of the measure, which was not framed as an explicit objective in the FAQ itself.
📧 Emails
What CIG sent to its subscribers: a new digital cosmetics pack for RSI Discovery Month, titled "RSI Discovery Month Digital Goodies Pack." It groups 15 new items: clothing, weapons, vehicle paints, and decor elements. Among the featured pieces: a stylish new version of the Venture suit, a classic version of that same suit inspired by the original hangar module, and a display model of the Constellation Andromeda to place in your habitat. The pack is available now and will remain so through the end of this year's IAE, making it a limited-time acquisition window.

💬 Spectrum: summary of most discussed topics
The general forum maintains a critical and assertive tone, with no -CIG responses spotted in today's threads, but the atmosphere also takes on a festive tint with Day of the Vara and a touch of nostalgia around the project's anniversary. The major open issues from previous days (mining, manufacturing) continue to grow in the background, while new threads restart the debate over daily gameplay loops and the future of several flagship ships.
Rethinking vital needs and ship progression
Potentially a hot take: Remove food and water regen from med beds - Add it to ship galleys is the day's most active thread with 145 votes and 85 replies: its author proposes removing hunger and thirst regeneration from medical beds to reserve it for ship galleys, to give concrete meaning to that equipment. In the same spirit of mechanics overhaul, Should every size of ship have progression, and not have size be the progression? (18 votes, 33 replies) wonders about giving each ship class a real progression curve rather than making size itself the sole measure of progress: a question that finds an exact echo on Reddit (see next section). The older debate Seriously, how are solo players, NPC crews, ship sales, and PvP supposed to coexist in Star Citizen? continues to fuel discussion with 119 replies, as does Multi-Crew and The Ship Availability Problem which highlights the difficulty of assembling a full crew for the largest ships at the very moment their sales availability is tightening.
Ships, store credit, and buying strategies
Legacy paid hanger flair & rewards and Referral Rewards, Locked Store Credit, and the Lack of a Practical Solution share the same frustration: referral credits or historical rewards that have become difficult to spend usefully in the current store. Rework the Polaris or Delete it. continues its progression and surpasses 89 votes and 116 replies today, a sign that discontent around the capital cruiser is not subsiding.
Performance, bugs, and daily life
Server Performance is shocking restarts criticism over server stability, while a player reports in wiklow location not matching the marker neither are the cargo lifts completing the contracts a mismatch between contract markers and the actual Wiklow site. More anecdotal, Is the cost of ICA repair bay still crazy? continues to wonder about ICA bay repair rates.
Between Day of the Vara and nostalgia
The festive atmosphere of Day of the Vara is felt on Spookies in the sky! and Happy Day of the Vara!, while a plainly titled thread 14 years marks in its way the fourteen years since the project's crowdfunding beginnings. On a lighter note, Ship Fabricator = Taco Truck humorously compares the new ship fabricator to a taco truck, a joke that also finds its echo on Reddit. Finally, two threads revolve around Squadron 42: Bitte für deutsche Sprachausgabe in Squadron42 requests German voice acting, and SQ42 Release Date Before or After IAE? speculates, with no official confirmation, on a possible alignment of the release date around IAE.
💬 Reddit r/starcitizen (by theme, general sentiment)
The subreddit alternates today between serious news on the gifting reform and a healthy dose of self-deprecation: amusing screenshots, credit calculations, and a touch of nostalgic tone around the Centaurus already nerfed before even having time to settle into habits.
The gifting and game access system shakes the community
The thread CIG effectively just killed the gray market in one fell swoop... and the relay of the official gifting FAQ concentrate a good portion of the day's exchanges (see the details of this FAQ in the Patch notes section). Following suit, Concierge Game Access illustrates the confusion these game access changes can generate among holders of large historical packages: a player wonders what would happen to their access to SQ42 and SC if they were to melt certain linked packages.
Fabricator, Taco Truck, and other verse antics
Constellation Mk V Fabricator has fun with a resemblance judged too perfect to be a coincidence between the new ship fabricator and... a taco truck, a direct echo of the joke spotted on Spectrum. On an equally offbeat register, Why is a Vanduul chillin at Grim Hex lmao captures a Vanduul behaving in decidedly unexpected fashion in the middle of a pirate station.
A Vanduul spotted hanging out casually at Grim Hex, much to players' amusement (27/10).
Centaurus, already nerfed but already adopted
A fun mission story recounts a successful session where the Centaurus, equipped with NDB-30 cannons and a pair of Deadbolt V, proved devastatingly effective, just before Centaurus: Armor somewhat kinda nerfed. Needs more nerf IMO. Hydrogen tank nerfed, but consumption reduced by 4.5X! comes to relay, citing community datamining, the armor and hydrogen consumption adjustments spotted in the latest Evocati build (see the Leaks & Datamining section for complete details of these figures).
Dreams of progression and credit calculations
I wish there were contracts that let you be a turret gunner. and Dear cig: a wingsuit would be nice. extend the usual list of gameplay wishes, respectively for turret gunner contracts aboard multi-crew ships and for a winged suit. On the wallet side, What 40M in Gold looks like in an Idris details a method of collecting gold cargo via high-reward missions, while how easy it is to get a warbond 890J at IAE? already worries about the difficulty of getting the warbond edition of the luxury liner at the next sale.
Community tools and creations
I made a site that shows where every item spawns (odds, respawn timers, NPC loot), and another one to try outfits on in 3D presents two community tools built from game files: a loot location site and a 3D outfit try-on, born from the frustration of having to answer the same questions repeatedly in-game. GOOD VIBES - Teaser - (4K) offers an amateur cinematic montage in high definition.

Holidays, frustrations, and daily winks
Day of the Vara continues to inspire the community with Day of the Vara: A Collection of Horrors, a retrospective of scary screenshots gathered over the years, and with Hello There, where a player recounts coming face-to-face with an unexpected apparition behind an elevator door at Grim Hex. On a more mocking note, why are there pizza places, when you can't buy pizza? wonders at pizzeria decorations that still can't be used, and November is near feeds anticipation around expected announcements next month. More soberly, Desyncing issues hella annoying returns to the frustration that desynchronization issues can cause in combat, and This is why i play this game, cant beat the view reminds, with screenshot in hand, why many players remain faithful to the game despite day-to-day frustrations.
A verse panorama that reminds why many players stick with it despite frustrations of the day (27/10).
💬 Discord: what's circulating on the servers
Update tracking channels confirm that PTU 4.10.3 is currently offline while CIG prepares a new build for Evocati testing tied to IAE, with a return announced for today. Members with access to this build suggest, speculatively, that it could carry version number 4.10.4, with version 4.11 not scheduled to coincide with the IAE sales period. This same Evocati testing window is also the source of most of the datamining information detailed in the Leaks & Datamining section below.
🕵️ Leaks & Datamining
Unofficial content from community datamining: subject to change, never confirmed by CIG.
The new Evocati build being prepared for IAE is the primary source of discoveries today. On the balance side, the Centaurus sees its physical armor drop from 531 to 390 (-27%) and its energy threshold from 380 to 330 (-13%), offset by an increase in its structure points from 25,740 to 30,740 (+19%); on the propulsion side, its hydrogen tank capacity drops from 46.8 to 32 SCU (-32%), but its consumption is divided by 4.5. Conversely, the Polaris sees its armor strengthened, with a physical threshold raised from 495 to 525 (+6%) and an energy threshold from 418 to 460 (+10%). On the weapons side, the Raptor IV missile would disappear outright, while Stalker V, Reaper V, Scimitar V, Valkyrie V, and Hellion VII would see their minimum firing distance shift from 5 to 700 meters, a change that would significantly alter their employment doctrine.
Other technical adjustments accompany this build: Retaliator and Apollo modules would now be standardized to respectively 200 SCU and 180 SCU per module, and the Liberator's official description would be slightly tweaked to emphasize its role as a long-range vehicle carrier tailored for civilian use. On the cosmetic side, Anvil Hurricane, Argo Raft, Banu Defender, and RSI Aurora Mk 2 would receive Luminalia liveries, and new fabrication plans for "Raider Camo" items (Corbel, Palatino, Tailwind, Skarnov rifle, M3A/M4A/M5A cannons) would be distributed via Intersec's new Vanduul Incursion missions.
Preview of the November bundle "Geist Epoque II", which would include a livery for the Meteor, a ship not yet available in-game.
Also tied to IAE, a finding shows a collectible coin box and its corners associated with Drake Corsair, Drake Ironclad Assault, Origin M80, and RSI Perseus, likely meant to accompany the annual sales event.
One of the collectible coins associated with IAE 2956, spotted in game files (27/10).
Finally, on the Squadron 42 side, a dated screenshot has surfaced showing a character or accessory nicknamed "Pico the Penguin" by the community.
