🚀 Star Citizen News: September 29, 2026

TL;DR

🔧 Patch notes and official CIG announcements

No new patch notes published: Live remains on Alpha 4.10.1 (build 12650677), PTU on Alpha 4.10.2 Wave 1 (build 12770507), still open with its TTK/TTD rebalancing tech-preview (TP4), launched late last week. CIG announced via its news channels that no new PTU build is planned today: the team is focusing on other 4.10.2 updates and possible additional tech-previews later in the week.

TP4 fixes issues from the previous iteration (TP3, which had accidentally doubled shield health): shields return to their intended values, ballistic damage is reduced by 20% compared to TP3, the AD4B, AD5B, and Deadbolt IV/V see their alpha damage further reduced by 20%, and shield and health values for large and capital ships are tightened toward the target 2/3 shield, 1/3 armor distribution. An over-damage bug (ships exploding directly without entering their disabled state) remains unfixed, with a reproduction rate of 25 to 50%. Videos from Cpt_Foxyloxy and Infinite Space, detailed below, dig into these numbers concretely.

On the official calendar front, the This Week in Star Citizen article from September 28 announces two events for the week: a new game library system Thursday, October 1st, and the weekly RSI newsletter edition Friday, October 2nd.

💬 Spectrum: summary of most discussed topics

The general forum is experiencing a busy weekend: a thread challenging the very identity of the game shares the spotlight with a dozen-plus topics dissecting the TTK/TTD rebalancing tested this weekend, figure by figure. In the background, impatience over timelines and the feeling of missing content loop continually, without any official CIG response coming to calm spirits on the hottest threads of the day.

A game that has changed its nature?

Star Citizen isn't a space sim anymore. It's an FPS extraction game with spaceships as loading screens, and the mechanics are a dumpster fire. (87 votes, 39 replies) accuses the game of transforming into an extraction FPS where ships are no longer more than loading screens, a fundamental critique of gameplay direction. In a similar register of weariness, At Some Point in Needs to Be Okay for "When" Questions to Be Asked by Backers (71 votes, 37 replies) simply requests the right to question timelines without being accused of impatience. The same sentiment infuses TWISC - Content Drought - EXTREME, which judges recent This Week in Star Citizen editions as thin, and Where is the Q3 SQ42 "news"letter?, which wonders at the absence of the promised quarterly newsletter on Squadron 42.

TP4 under scrutiny: PvE, crime stat, mission progression

PVE is already too easy to be adding an easy mode damage modifier (51 votes, 64 replies) flatly opposes the new +20% damage modifier on NPCs introduced with TP4, deeming PvE already forgiving enough to need it. The same test weekend feeds a good dozen more modest but equally revealing threads of attention given to the work: About the TTK, Weapons that fight differently, not just harder, I've solved both TTK and insurance, what makes multicrew even worse than proj. velocities, Engineering Gameplay, Turret gunners unite for a promotion to weapons officers! and Is the multiplayer ship gameplay really bad, or are we just really bad at it? each explore a different angle of the same rebalancing. In parallel, Getting crimestat for defending one self (74 votes, 59 replies) denounces a crime stat system that would punish self-defense, and Save Mission Progress! (61 votes, 34 replies) demands a way to save mission progress mid-flight rather than lose everything on disconnection.

And also, in brief

Dedicated Factions proposes the creation of dedicated playable factions, Make PYRO a 90% loot PVP area suggests transforming the Pyro system into a 90% loot PvP zone, and My FPS is suffering after latest update.. anyone care to help me optimize? seeks optimization tips after the latest patch.

💬 Reddit r/starcitizen (by theme, general sentiment)

The sub maintains a lighter tone than Spectrum, but the same tensions show through: between irony over missing content, complaints about broken mechanics, and endless love for ships, the atmosphere remains good-natured even when the subject rankles.

Irony over missing content

This Week in Star Citizen (Nothing to see here) soberly relays, under an ironic title, the latest official edition of the weekly meetup, a direct echo of the Spectrum thread on content drought mentioned above. Same register in It´s not even funny anymore! "It'll be a quieter week" dudes really are you serious?, which ridicules promises of quiet weeks never kept.

Bugs and mechanical frustrations

C'Mon CIG Fix The Hangars! denounces hangars no longer responding correctly to ASOP terminals and ending up destroying the ship. Meaningless Persistence or actually worthwhile? questions the server cost of persisting objects with no real value. Better way to implement the 40%/20% etc NPC damage penalty proposes a more targeted alternative to the NPC damage modifier discussed above on Spectrum, and Can we get rid of the floating "F to interact" prompts? joins the standardization request seen on Spectrum. Core Mechanics We Still Don't Have and Desperately Need draws up a list of structural gaps: global inventory management across locations, boarding mechanics, and more.

Accounts, security, and a departure

More seriously, Account hacked 7 days ago, 4000 EUR damage, CIG Support not moving forward - Need help testifies to a account breach followed by support deemed too slow to respond, a reminder that account security remains a recurring concern on the sub. In a completely different register, Uninstalled after 8 years. Some of my favorite screenshots. O7 all :( shares a gentle departure after eight years of play, accompanied by a gallery of nostalgic screenshots.

The sub has fun too

DONT TAKE SHITS WHILE PILOTING ICA recounts a convoy mishap spun as a comical anecdote, while Show me your screenshots that made you stop! and The final frontier! gather stunning screenshots from the verse. Shiv bodykits with new Skull and Crossbones paint showcases the new Pirate Week paints on Shiv body kits, and Pirate Week Finale - He Was Hauling Millions in 1000 Quality Minerals... Alone recounts, from the player side, one of the final exploits of the ongoing event.

RSI Constellation Taurus - Cross section A cross-section of the RSI Constellation Taurus, published 09/28.

Advice and ships

The Starlancer TAC changed the way I play and enjoy the game completely praises the versatility of the Starlancer TAC for solo nomadic play thanks to its integrated snub hangar. I never get tired of this ship. shares a nice ship view with no further commentary, while You're Using The Ironclad Wrong - Flip It On It's Side! delivers a loading tip for the Ironclad. Practical questions follow: whats the best ground based anti air vehicle?, Suggestion: Modular Mustang?, What is your favorite armor set?! and what is holding back the Zeus MR from coming out seek advice and explanations on a craft still in concept.

Ideas and feature dreams

Why can't we just have this? demands a simple disconnect button after fourteen years of waiting, An idea that probably would never work, but an idea nonetheless: imagines a ship recovery elevator for oversized hangars, and Love carrier-based fighter ops shares, wordlessly, a flight deck image that speaks for itself.

The final frontier! A panoramic view of the verse, published 09/28.
