TL;DR
- ⚖️ A third TTK/TTD rebalancing test (shield, damage, time-to-kill) is running in Tech Preview available to all backers: values are shifting significantly, and the community is already comparing this test to the LIVE game on Spectrum.
- 💥 The climate on Spectrum remains tense over the past several days around monetization: the sale of the ATLS IKTI Akuma in the Nine Tails Shogun pack, despite past promises never to commercialize it, is fueling heavily voted threads about trust in CIG.
- 🚀 The Sabre Raven EX, a new stealth variant of the Sabre equipped with a Quantum Dampener, was officially revealed and available since 4.10.1: creators are rushing to test it in-game.
- 🔭 Sneak Peek: a new enigmatic teaser image in Friday's newsletter, simply captioned "Transmitting signal…".
- 💰 The verse in numbers: 372 K$ collected yesterday (total 1.046 B$).
🔧 Patch notes and official CIG announcements
The LIVE version remains Alpha 4.10.1 (build 12650677), deployed on September 16 with the Orison Relief Support event. No new patch notes dropped in the last 24 hours, but two official fronts have moved: a combat rebalancing test in Tech Preview, and the reveal of a new ship accompanied by a wave of sales that is raising eyebrows.
Third Tech Preview of TTK/TTD Rebalancing
CIG launched overnight Thursday to Friday a third rebalancing test for damage and survivability, this time open to all backers (and no longer just Evocati) on the Tech Preview channel. The stated objectives:
- Focus combat on shields: aim for two-thirds of an engagement to be fought over shield destruction, before armor and critical components.
- Continue arbitrating between energy and ballistic weapons.
- Fine-tune shield slap down times.
- Lengthen survival time (TTK) in PVP while keeping it short in PVE, and extend it significantly for large and capital ships.
To achieve this, CIG cancelled almost all changes from the previous test and applied very marked values: shield health up 134 to 212%, armor health down 30% on small ships but up to 96% on capitals, overall alpha damage up 145%, armor deflection adjusted accordingly, shield resistance set to 40-50% against ballistic and 35-45% against energy depending on power distribution, shield absorption against ballistic potentially reaching 80%, shield regeneration increased 95%, and a 40% damage bonus for AI in PVE. CIG notes that these extreme values are explained by the current inability to finely adjust critical component health: thus shield and armor must be compressed to draw out the correct proportion of combat time. A known issue accompanies this build: ships skip the disabled phase and explode directly at 0 critical points instead of powering down.
Other official announcements
- Bar Citizen World Tour stops this Saturday, September 19 in Milan (Titan Gaming Center, 7pm), with development team members on site.
- Pirate Week 2026 continues with new Drake paints and Grey's Market, collector bundles and two starter packs at -25%. Offers end September 28.
- As a reminder, the RSI Aurora Mk I will permanently leave the pledge store on September 30: ships already in hangars remain fully playable and supported, only unclaimed upgrades and CCUs in the refund queue will become unavailable after that date.
📧 Emails
Official email sent by CIG in the last 24 hours:
Weekly Update: Alpha 4.10.1 & Nine Tails Shogun Pack (18/09). 🔭 Sneak Peek of the week
Friday's newsletter closes, as every week, with its teaser image without caption, accompanied by a simple quote: "Transmitting signal…". Hard to say what this shot actually shows: that's the whole point of the exercise, which lets the community speculate until the next announcement. Nothing at this stage allows us to say what it is: watch this space over the coming days.

💬 Spectrum: synthesis of most discussed topics
The atmosphere on the general forum remains tense over the past several days, driven by a wave of frustration around monetization that extends well beyond the last 24 hours. In the background, a combat rebalancing test divides opinions, while daily game life continues to generate its share of practical questions and minor complaints. No official CIG response has emerged on these threads in the covered period.
Trust put to the test
The subject that dominates discussion by far remains the sale of the Nine Tails Shogun pack and its ATLS IKTI Akuma. The thread « It wasn't enough to sell the only thing that could only be earned in game, you had to sell a P2W version of it » crystallizes the complaint with 360 votes: the ATLS IKTI, until now reserved for a community event, returns as a paid and improved product. The thread « Itki was supposed to be not for sale, no? » (263 votes) and « Most uncool move CIG, P2win embarrassment » (236 votes) drive the same point home. The most voted thread of the period, « Community Goodwill is Running Out » (331 votes, 131 replies), generalizes the point to broader fatigue with commercial practices, as does « Why I'm losing faith in CIG and Star Citizen » and « I've never seen the community this angry » (112 replies). More measured threads attempt to open constructive dialogue, such as « How CIG could restore trust? (and failed) » or « A constructive concern about trust, communication and monetization ». One thread also relays remarks that Chris Roberts allegedly made about pay-to-win (« Chris Roberts on pay-to-win! », 141 votes): as its author is not a CIG team member, this is a community relay of a statement that could not be verified to a primary official source. However, not everyone is on the same page: a few players defend the sale, like « Glad the IKTI was for sale. My 2c. » or « How cool is this new ikkiti bundle?! ».
TTK, permanent worksite
The third TTK/TTD rebalancing test (detailed in the Patch Notes section) is already receiving early feedback on « Fighter Combat Feedback: LIVE vs. TECH PREVIEW » (33 votes, 28 replies), where players compare their impressions between the LIVE game and tested values. Others call for more consideration of previous tests, like « Hey CIG, can we just have EVO TTK TP2 as an all backers TP with a fresh feedback poll? », while one player details his own analysis in « Make shields viable again! ».
Daily game life continues
Between the big debates, the forum keeps its share of practical questions and small reports: one player alerts about an exploit allowing external freight elevators at Seraphim to be lowered without detailing the mechanism in « Just a PSA: Exploiters Have Figured out... », another wonders about missile use in « Serious Question: How do I use missiles? », and the Orison Relief Support event sparks its share of questions about rewards (« CIG: Can you add the backpack for the armor reward? », « Battaglia Reward Ships: are they added to our hangar? »).
💬 Reddit r/starcitizen (by theme, overall sentiment)
The tone on r/starcitizen closely follows that of Spectrum: a good part of the most discussed posts revolves around fatigue with monetization, with its dose of sarcasm, but the subreddit also keeps its usual helping of screenshots, laughs and small victories in-game.
Echo of the anti-monetization backlash
Today's topic naturally extends to Reddit: « Whales are driving this game straight to the wall » directly picks up on the criticism already seen on Spectrum, while « Hear me out.. but the ATLS IKTI on the store should've been the top reward for the new event » offers a nuance: rather than selling it, the craft should have remained a grind reward, much harder to obtain. The tone becomes more bitter with « I know they're all trying their best », sarcastic about the direction the studio is taking, and translates visually through the photomontage of « A picture is worth a thousand words. Surely you already know how I feel. », which ridicules regret at having invested in a high-tier pledge.
« A picture is worth a thousand words », a montage that sums up the mood of the day (18/09).
A post also relays content creator MrKraken's perspective on the current state of the game (« MrKraken on the situation of Star Citizen »), without its exact contents being detailed in the thread. Going against this tense climate, one post salutes the near-universal popularity of a developer: « I like how Silvan-CIG Is pretty universally loved » highlights the work and passion perceived in this team member, proof that today's grumbling targets commercial decisions above all, not the developers themselves.
Daily life and small victories in the verse
The rest of the subreddit keeps its usual atmosphere: humor about flying misadventures with « Ow! My Balls! », « Well this is a new one for me » about a ship stuck in place, or the nod to « The Polaris Hangar Is Actually a Pirate Flytrap ». On the panorama and shared moments side, we find « Into the Desert Badlands… », « We keep moving. » and reuniting with a cherished ship in « Finally got around to getting my Alpha Wolf back in game ». Two threads focus on specific ships: « The M80 has a lot going on under the hood. » and « This is AK-47 of Star Citizen [Drake Cutlass] », while the new Sabre Raven EX already inspires a visual comparison between variants in « Sabre Raven Family ». A player also admits a little passion for a prison mini-game in « I Love The Klescher Mini Game ».
« Sabre Raven Family », published on the day of the official Raven EX announcement (18/09).
Bugs and guides around Orison Relief Support
The event of the moment also generates its share of technical questions: « Solo players, check this: on-foot objectives that never trigger are NOT your fault » documents, with Issue Council links, a bug where on-foot objectives remain stuck until a second player approaches the area. Others wonder about a recently noticed oxygen limitation (« Oxygen in limited quantity, since when? ») or the apparent disappearance of the racing loop (« What happened to Racing in the PU? »). On the help side, one player details all rewards obtained in « Orison Relief Rewards », while a complete guide lists the 13 contracts and their exact locations in « Orison Relief Support – Final LIVE 4.10.1 Guide ». In direct echo of the combat rebalancing debate stirring Spectrum, the thread « TTK TP3 » salutes the boldness of this third attempt while wondering about the balance between survival and engagement speed it establishes.
🎖️ Squadron 42
A thread on r/squadron42, « Regarding the price of the game: why it shouldn't exceed 60$ », revisits the $65 price displayed in the recent "Game Access Updates" FAQ post, which CIG had officially presented as merely an illustrative amount, without definitive value. The thread's author speculates, without certainty, that this figure could correspond to the price actually being considered. In the absence of any official confirmation on a Squadron 42 retail price, this is at this stage pure community speculation, not an announcement.
