TL;DR

🔧 Patch notes and official CIG announcements

The night was busy on the PTU side: after several releases reserved for Wave 1, CIG finally opened the build 12368639 to all waves, which now displays VERSION 4.10.0-PTU.12368639 (PTU Channel US Only, Long Term Persistence enabled). In parallel, the Alpha 4.9 Live Hotfix channel remains open with the client CL 12344265, which fixes several client-side bugs without touching the server.

Build 4.10.0-PTU.12368639 (All Waves)

The test focus remains unchanged since previous releases: stability and long-term persistence (LTP) fixes between PTU builds, instanced Siege of Orison, hydrogen fuel balancing, Arlington lever-action rifle, support missions to Orison, return of Recco Battaglia and Wikelo updates.

Recco Battaglia, introduced in previous builds, remains the most-discussed gameplay piece: she serves as a new mission giver in person at her workshop on Levski, with three story missions located in Nyx (industrial mining, boarding a missing person, FPS gameplay) unlocked sequentially based on accumulated reputation. Completing all three missions unlocks special rewards and new repeatable contracts.

Wikelo keeps its three new missions (armor, weapons, a new ship), with the ship mission now working by blueprint handoff upon acceptance, leaving it to the player to craft the item then return it to receive the ship in return.

On the technical side, this release fixes a server crash and brings a new optimization pass of the Siege of Orison, plus eighteen potential fixes:

Seven known issues remain tracked on this build:

No wipe is noted for this release (LTP enabled between PTU builds): testers can focus on the Battaglia mission chain, new Wikelo missions, and report elevator and instancing bugs that carry over from build to build.

Live side: 4.9 hotfix

The Alpha 4.9 Live client hotfix (CL 12344265, canary-tested on a selection of servers) fixes several irritants reported this week: freshly-equipped gear appearing black in equipped slots and in the loot screen, Klescher ore deposit kiosk returning "Transaction Failed" message, inventories replaced by Wikelo or extinguishers, and ships disappearing when landing or leaving Levski hangar.

📧 Emails

Official emails sent by CIG in the last 24 hours:

🔭 Weekly Sneak Peek

Sneak Peek The weekly Sneak Peek, captioned "Feel the sting", accompanies Friday evening's newsletter.

This week's teaser carries the mention "Feel the sting" and appears to point toward the Kruger Stingray, though no official confirmation backs up this lead. As always with the Sneak Peek, caution is warranted: the image is deliberately enigmatic and the community is invited to speculate rather than jump to conclusions about what it actually announces.

CIG's weekly newsletter, titled Weekly Update: Foundation Festival & Ship Showdown, takes stock of the week's highlights. The Foundation Festival 2026 runs until August 10th: free fly on five distinct ships, refreshed Welcome Hub and Guide System with new rewards for players accompanying newcomers, active Twitch Drops, and a referral bonus offering a free Argo ATLS. The Ship Showdown 2956 enters Phase 1: to mark the occasion, CIG offers a flash sale on the four finalist ships from last year (individually, as fleet upgrade, or in complete pack with limited edition paints), an offer ending August 3rd. The email also covers a Bar Citizen event organized in Amsterdam, with a photo album available on the Community Hub.

💬 Spectrum: synthesis of most-discussed topics

The general forum is spinning tonight around two recurring irritants: technical issues on the launcher and site that are bothering a significant portion of players, and still-fuzzy expectations around the actual content of 4.10. No major official intervention comes to calm these two fronts, but the mood remains generally driven by curiosity rather than anger.

Launcher and website struggling

The most upvoted thread in the window, There seems to be a glitch with the front page, gathers 93 votes around an RSI site homepage display bug. The launcher is not spared: Launcher is using 45% of my GPU without running the game! denounces abnormal GPU consumption even outside the game, and New Launcher auto-launching GameGlass??? questions unexpected auto-launch of the third-party GameGlass application.

4.10 still unclear for part of the community

So what's the deal with 4.10... crystallizes 32 responses from players struggling to follow actual content of the new build against the pace of successive PTU releases, a haziness echoing the MOTD shared the day before about opening to all waves.

Gameplay bugs accumulating

Several threads point to broken or finicky mechanics: Elevators... again relaunches the eternal topic of stubborn elevators, Red Wind Cargo Completely Broken Since Server Side Upgrade to 12326004 reports a cargo mission broken since a server update, and Hey CIG, no shade but is the ROC ever gonna work again? grows impatient about the state of the small mining vehicle. MSR auto-refuel is a dud. observes that MSR auto-refueling doesn't work, and Why we can't steal the NPC Starfarer of the refueling beacon? questions the impossibility of hijacking the NPC Starfarer at refueling beacons. The bug nicknamed "Captured" continues to grate in I can't I really Can't more Time sink (Captured) I hope this is bug, while Not complaining, still made a good haul closer to home. But, CIG, what did you do to mining ore in the Halo? reports a perceived change in Halo ore. More specific, Can we talk about disconnecting?, Hey CIG... Where are the large caves at?, Issue with the delivery of hauling contracts and Cargo and Delivery Missions round out the day's gameplay friction picture.

Community life: Guide System and org moderation

Two more constructive topics animate the community life section: Can we make the Guide System rewards available all year? advocates for perpetuating beyond Foundation Festival the rewards currently reserved for guide sessions, and Remove orgs ability to mass invite users calls for limiting mass invitations by organizations, deemed too close to spam. A community tool HUD Manager, presenting a radial wheel HUD companion, completes this more positive vein.

💬 Reddit r/starcitizen (by theme, general sentiment)

The subreddit is clearly living to the rhythm of the Ship Showdown: voting campaigns for this or that ship saturate a good portion of the feed, in a good-natured rather than rage-filled atmosphere. In the background, a few more grinding posts about Pyro's state and the quality of certain assets remind us that weariness is never far off, but the overall mood is resolutely turned toward Foundation Festival and its many distractions.

Ship Showdown 2956: vote campaign in full swing

Propaganda publications multiply: Chibiron calls to vote for this small fighter, Support for Asgard in Ship Showdown and Vote RSI Scorpius for Ship Showdown 2956 respectively defend the heavy hauler and the anti-fighter interceptor, while Talon for BiS this year and Anvil Hawk for BIS, time for another lesser known ship to get the spotlight like the Gladiator did! seek some light for less highlighted ships. Day 3 of being a Gatac Fanboy (Ship Showdown Propaganda) continues its series in honor of the Syulen, and My BiS Take proposes turning the election into a permanent vote ladder leading to a golden standard at CitizenCon.

Sneak Peek and artistic showcase

This week's Sneak Peek naturally finds its echo here with Weekly Sneak Peek: Feel the Sting [Kruger Stingray], and Ready for the Stingray sale already anticipates a possible promotion tied to the ship. On the creative side, the community is generous:

Cutlass End of Shift "End of the shift": new Cutlass fan-art, continuing a previous Vulture illustration by the same author.

Neon Descent [In-game Photography] shares an in-game shot with nocturnal urban ambiances, completing this day's small artistic showcase.

Pyro still divides as much

I wish Pyro was what it is intended to be regrets that the system, envisioned as high-stakes PvP playground, too often boils down to meaningless ambushes while the player fights NPCs outside the pilot seat. Space stations Pyro extends the critique on the "dilapidated" aesthetic pushed to extremes of the system's stations, deemed less successful than Levski or People stations. Conversely, The Asgard no longer suffers a low qt tank 4.10 ptu hails a concrete improvement spotted on the PTU, echoing directly the quantum fuel changes revealed by 4.10 datamining.

Foundation Festival: between enthusiasm and small hiccups

Foundation Festival - Anyone else not getting Guide requests despite being available for hours? reports absence of solicitations despite continuous availability display, and Question about those foundation festival bundle. questions whether event packs are giftable and existing referral eligibility. PSA: Today is the last day you can do Christmas in July... reminds of the end of a parallel promotion.

Security, MOTD and PTU echoes

CIG have deleted the KB article that advised making unsafe security changes to Windows hails the quiet removal of a help article that recommended Windows settings deemed risky. The MOTD announcing a new 4.10 build in preparation for all-wave opening echoes the fuzziness noted on Spectrum about the exact content of 4.10.

Daily life, humor and small discoveries

Between two vote campaigns, the community shares daily moments: You know you've been playing Star Citizen for too long when... and Playing star citizen is saving us money guys, we were force to upgrade years ago play on the usual self-deprecation of veterans. My first time finding 1000q anything. recounts an exceptional mining find sadly reduced to dust at refining, and Judging the Reclaimer by its On-Grid capacity... demonstrates by image the actual loading capacity of the salvage ship. More practical, Need a faster way to turn in big amounts of scrip laments the slowness of the scrip exchange system, and 4.9 Ship Verbosity Audio reports a disappearance of ship voice announcements (collision alerts, power-up, landing).

🕵️ Leaks & Datamining

Non-official content from community datamining: subject to change, never confirmed by CIG.

PTU 4.10.0-12368639: what datamining reveals

The Wikelo super-heavy armor now correctly gives a backpack instead of a second helmet. On the crafting side, completion of Battaglia's three story missions each unlocks a specific blueprint: Stampede active mining module after Story 1, Torrent III passive mining module after Story 2, and blueprints for Golem and Mole/Prospector mining pods after Story 3 (these pods are however not yet present in-game). Resupply missions also change nature: current careers on Live are disabled in favor of new resupply missions.

The most notable change concerns quantum drives: all models see their stats modified (max speed, spool-up time, stage one and two accelerations, engagement speed, interdiction recovery delay, spool-up time), with no apparent patch logic since some stats rise and others drop depending on models. Notably, spool-up time varies by drive manufacturer: Ace Astrogation and Juno Starwerk gain 40% speed, RSI 20%, while Tarsus loses 30% and Wei-Tek up to 60%. A concrete improvement of this overhaul has already been spotted by the community on the Asgard, whose quantum tank deemed too small appears fixed on this PTU.

A visual preview of 4.10 loading

4.10 Loading Newspaper The "newspaper" serving as loading screen for the 4.10 PTU build, spotted by the community (31/07).

The cries of the Stormwal

The 4.10 fauna continues to unveil: five audio files attributed to a creature dubbed Stormwal have been extracted by the community, giving a first sound preview of its cries (excerpt 1, excerpt 2, excerpt 3, excerpt 4, excerpt 5).

Earlier adjustments (build 12358556)

An earlier datamining pass had already spotted removal of the "Combat Suit" mission at Wikelo, as well as a marked lowering of reputation thresholds needed for each Battaglia rank, likely temporary to ease testing: rank 1 drops from 2400 to 400 points, rank 2 from 6000 to 800, rank 3 from 10800 to 2000, rank 4 from 30000 to 3000, and rank 5 from 69600 to 4000.
