PTU 4.10.2 Wave 1: TP4 of the TTK/TTD rebalance up for testing this weekend (September 28, 2026)

Cavalera editorial team · September 28, 2026 · 3 min read

PTU Alpha 4.10.2 is open to Wave 1 testers, with the fourth iteration of the time-to-kill and time-to-destroy rebalance in tech preview.

The PTU Alpha 4.10.2 is no longer reserved for Evocati. Announced as "Wave 1 now open" in the Spectrum testing channel, and relayed notably on Reddit, it includes in tech preview the fourth iteration (TP4) of the TTK/TTD rebalance, i.e. the time-to-kill and time-to-destroy. The Live build remains on Alpha 4.10.1 in the meantime. Content creators and testers got to work this weekend, with measurements comparing the two versions.

What TP4 fixes

TP4 is explicitly presented by CIG as outside the official scope of 4.10.2: it is a weekend test. The team acknowledges that the previous iteration, TP3, had serious problems. Shields were mistakenly given double their intended health, which lengthened TTK, the opposite of the goal. Power pip distribution was broken on several shields, to the point of rendering them inoperative. Finally, a bug caused the "overdamage" threshold to be skipped: ships exploded directly instead of first being disabled, ten times sooner than planned.

TP4 restores shields to their intended values, which should bring TTK back down. According to Cpt_Foxyloxy's video, it also introduces new shield resistance and absorption values. The creator details how they work, then compares time-to-kill between Live 4.10.1 and PTU 4.10.2 on a Gladius, a Constellation Phoenix and a size 3 shield. The numerical values of these measurements are not reproduced here.

On the methodology side, a Reddit thread, Ship TTK Update #4, proposes a common test bench: a Gladius equipped with two FR66 cannons, shields pushed to maximum pips. The goal is to make feedback comparable from one tester to another.

A gap flagged by dataminers

An examination of the build's files by dataminers reveals a gap with the official patch notes. CIG announces shield health gains of +17% to +70% and armor between -20% and +100%. Dataminers measure in-game increases of up to +300% for shield health and +2900% for armor on some ships. Energy weapon damage and armor deflection, however, match the announced figures, as do most ballistic weapons, with the exception of a few models that progress less than expected.

Other additions in the build

The PTU also adds VR zoom and scope lenses, enabling precise aiming and a hands-free mode for mining. This feature, already described in the patch notes, is shown in a first community look.

The Infinite Space video, dedicated to combat changes in 4.10.2, also offers a first look at the IASI platform spotted in the build.

Context

PTU 4.10.2 has had a bumpy run. On September 22, CIG was preparing an Evocati build with a points event in Stanton, a rework of precision aiming in VR and a fix to the shield resistance calculation: the former restriction cancelled resistance when the minimum and maximum values were identical. On September 23, CIG pulled the PTU without planning a new build, and the hotfix channel was closed. The third TTK/TTD test had meanwhile fueled debate on Spectrum, notably over the idea of differentiating PVE and PVP.

What we still don't know

It is unknown whether the gap between announced and measured values will be corrected, or whether the patch note figures will be revised. The next signal to watch: the patch notes accompanying a possible new test wave, and tester feedback on the Live/PTU comparative measurements.
