🔧 Patch notes and official CIG announcements
Roadmap Roundup: Alpha 4.11 becomes Alpha 5.0
CIG took the opportunity of today's Roadmap Roundup to announce the renaming of Alpha 4.11 to Alpha 5.0, a decision presented as reflecting the scale of technologies set to converge in it. At the heart of this version lie several building blocks from Genesis, the initiative dedicated to creating and populating planetary environments:
- Starchitect: procedural world building from Genesis data, which distributes locations across planetary surfaces and assembles them from modular components to expand the universe at scale.
- Planet Tech V5: overhaul of planet generation and rendering (biomes, vegetation and rocks, terrain materials, GPU-driven generation).
- Population Manager: server population balancing and environment population with inhabitants suited to their setting.
- Contract Boards: missions accessible via Guild Halls in regional hubs, at local, regional, global, or system-wide scale, with a completely redesigned interface.
- DGS Planet Subdivision: advancement of server meshing that divides planets and moons into smaller server territories assigned dynamically.
Nyx I will be the first planet to receive these technologies, before their expansion to Nyx II, Nyx III, and existing locations.
The Roadmap Roundup also confirmed several map movements: the Lightning Bolt Company "Skarnov" DMR rifle advances from 5.0 toward an early release in 4.10.3 (Committed); in Alpha 5.0, Item Recovery - Ship Loadout Improvements (better preservation of personal configurations during ship recovery) is removed from the release view as it's not ready (Tentative), while Contract Boards, S3 & S10 Bomb Racks, the Kastak Arms "Hellion" pistol, and the Kastak Arms "Verdict" LMG move to Committed status, and Loot Refresh and Vehicle Combat Balance Pass (the time-to-kill rebalancing requested on Spectrum, see below) are added to Tentative status; finally, Nyx II and Nyx III, previously targeted for 5.0, shift to Tentative for Alpha 5.1.

Clarification: no wipe confirmed for 5.0
A wipe rumor linked to 5.0 circulated in the community following an ambiguous response from a CIG community manager on Spectrum, misinterpreted as directly answering a question about a possible wipe. CIG quickly clarified that this was not the case and that no wipe has been confirmed or announced for this version. A Spectrum thread, [REDDIT UPDATE] No current plans for 5.0 wipe, also relays this clarification to the community.
New PTU build 4.10.3 (13107423)
CIG released a new PTU build of Alpha 4.10.3, stamped "All Backers" (version 4.10.3-PTU.13107423), still on the PTU channel reserved for the United States with long-term persistence enabled. The testing focus remains stability, fixes, and long-term persistence between PTU versions, plus the new Vanduul Incursion missions, the new LBCO Skarnov Rifle FPS weapon, and IAE still announced on an accelerated schedule.
Gameplay Updates
- Journal entries are now organized by player, with priority mission events placed at the top.
- The mobiGlas Object Manager and NikNax now sort alphabetically and only display a counter beyond a single item.
- The multi-tool is now delivered by default with a tractor beam attachment.
- High-Risk bounty contracts now grant 4,000 reputation points, up from 2,000 previously, placing them between Medium Risk and Very High Risk.
- Addition of new hairstyle, eyebrow, and facial hair options.
Ships and Vehicles
- Centaurus: armor deflection reduced from 531 to 390 against physical damage and from 380 to 330 against energy damage. Hull points increased from 25,740 to 30,740. Fuel tank capacity reduced from 46.8 to 32 SCU, and thrusters now have fuel consumption rates assigned.
- Polaris: armor deflection increased against both physical and energy damage.
- Addition of S10 and S3 bomb racks for the Starlifter.
- Default power distribution has been globally adjusted so critical components are no longer cut when powering up.
- Starlancer, Perseus, and Carrack radars moved to size 3, with the Starlancer's moved to the engineering station and the Perseus relay to the console.
Salvage Capacity Increase
CIG now officially confirms, in a salvage modifier rebalancing pass, the increase in internal storage capacities for all vessels in the discipline (an evolution previously known only through community datamining):
- Vulture: 13 SCU → 16 SCU, largest box 1 SCU (+23.08%).
- Reclaimer: 240 SCU → 448 SCU, largest box 16 SCU (+86.67%).
- Moth: 64 SCU → 240 SCU, largest box 8 SCU (+275%).
- Fortune: 13 SCU → 14 SCU, largest box 1 SCU (+7.69%).
- Salvation: 6 SCU → 8 SCU, largest box 1 SCU (+33.33%).
A line concerning a sixth vessel, the Gatac Hyun, had briefly appeared in an earlier version of this patch note before being removed: see the Leaks & Datamining section below.
Technical Fixes
The build fixes two client crashes and one server lock:
- Client crash when streaming a render texture to texture.
- Client crash in the memory allocator caused by unchecked weapon association indices.
- Server lock on the main thread when an entity was detached and then queued for deletion.
Additional potential fixes:
- Players remaining stuck on railings at the power station during Battaglia Story 1.
- Missing prompt to place an object at the freight elevator level.
- Tactical Strike Group radio call triggering incorrectly when accepting a boarding contract.
- Visibility zone in the cargo hold of the RSI Zeus Mk II ES causing wall flickering.
- Turret reticle disappearing when aiming too high.
- Dynamic objects failing to appear in their environment due to instance culling.
- Land vehicles destroyed on the hangar platform during recovery.
- Vehicle modules recoverable via the freight elevator, now prevented by increased module size.
- Battaglia Story 1 blocked before the "Go To Blinding Hope" objective as the ship failed to appear.
- Intersec 3-Way Standoff scenario objectives reporting remaining enemies when all AI is eliminated.
- RSI event reward component distortion values misconfigured.
- Friction noise when docking a snub fighter to its carrier.
- Esperia Prowler VTOL thrusters not repositioning correctly on activation.
- Aegis Idris IFR-BC7 turret gimbals not functioning properly.
- Missing door next to the Coffee To Go at Area18 spaceport.
- Vehicle HUD displaying as placeholder textures or dark gray on multiple ships.
- Organic surfaces appearing striped or smudged in both Vulkan and DX11.
- Inability to contact ATC to land or take off from distribution centers.
- ASOP terminals freezing for 3-4 seconds on interaction, with addition of a one-minute safety delay for unresponded requests.
- Destroyed power plants still counted as powered, preventing structural salvage.
- Incorrect visibility zone in the RSI Zeus Mk II cargo hold.
October 2026 Monthly Report
CIG released the PU Monthly Report for October, detailing the progress of each team in the studio.
Banner for the October 2026 Monthly Report (04/11).
- AI Content: support for upcoming missions and events, progress on a new character (load testing underway, next step in live environment), fixes to Vanduul pilots, NPC characters prepared for IAE halls, and refined administrative NPC behaviors.
- AI (Features & Tech): refinement of valakkar apex combat and animations. AI navigation in Starchitect has been improved to prevent fragmentation of planetary navigation meshes, with fixes for duplicated meshes, crashes, and AI ships becoming uncontrollable in navigation mode.
- Animation: refinement of valakkar apex capabilities and start of development of new creature types; two new voice packs processed for Nyx and new mission giver captured.
- Art (Characters): refined gang outfits (distinct paints and backpacks for elite enemies and captains), armor skins completed for a future event, and items for a future patch.
- Art (Ships): RSI Constellation and Skylark finalized in North America. The Kraken completed its LOD0 phase before a mid-November review. In the UK, the Anvil Liberator passed its final review before its IAE release, and the RSI Galaxy completed its review, with a new control panel interface set to become standard on other ships. Several unannounced vehicles are progressing, from greybox to production entry for one of them, designed to offer solo progression without relying on large multi-crew ships. Two artists were finally assigned to the Banu Merchantman to restart its development and adapt it to the latest player trading design.
- Core Gameplay: adaptation of Persistent Hangars to updated instancing, improved freight elevators (error reports, progress, mission object handling), enriched Contract Boards (rank/faction icons, statuses, rewards, sorting), accelerated Starchitect missions (contract generation approximately 15 times faster). Numerous inventory, cargo, and kiosk fixes, restored impound fine payment option, corrected damage and salvage detection, and first time-to-kill rebalancing tools introduced.
- Level Design: progress on Starchitect (new waypoints) and Municipal Works (room layout, combat passes); support for IAE and beginning to write a "How to Use Transport" guide.
- Mission Design: work on the Vanduul Incursion pack, designed for end-game combat testing group coordination, and on Starchitect Contract Boards to limit quantum travel dependency. Over 300 contracts are already planned for Nyx I, in just 15% of the time spent on Pyro's initial release.
- Narrative: descriptions of new space combat missions and narrative finalization of IAE, expansion of Nyx I scenarios, capture of a new guild representative before 1.0, and new Vara Day story in October's Jump Point.
- Online Technology: Procedural Entity Creation completed, OST notification queue delivered, Redis support and contract reconciliation improved, several critical bugs fixed (friends list, purchases, cargo, entitlements). Hex 4.0 finalized its pre-release testing (chat, group management, role-based controls), client Bootstrap rebuild started, and the network claims system progresses for better server assignment.
- R&D: cloud raymarching optimization to reduce render cost, more realistic sky lighting based on cloud cover (new Cloud Patch Size setting), and cloud coverage map in development for an atmospheric lighting pass planned before year-end.

💬 Spectrum: summary of most discussed topics
The general forum is buzzing today with the big news of the day: the renaming of Alpha 4.11 to Alpha 5.0, which divides as much as it excites. A wipe rumor, born from a misinterpreted community manager response, also occupied much of the discussions before being defused in the process. Between the two, players return to their usual themes: the fate of the Banu Merchantman, pirate gameplay philosophy, and a handful of bugs and various requests. No direct CIG intervention is to be noted on these threads.
Alpha 5.0: a name change that doesn't sit right with everyone
5.0 shouldn't be the next major update contests the relevance of the timeline chosen by CIG for this version jump, while TTK update for end of the year erupts around the "Vehicle Combat Balance Pass" card just added to the roadmap, demanding a more precise timeline on time-to-kill rebalancing in space combat.
The wipe rumor defused
[REDDIT UPDATE] No current plans for 5.0 wipe crystallized much of today's concern before the official clarification, relayed above, put an end to it.
The Banu Merchantman, a comeback?
The announcement, in the Monthly Report, of the resumption of Banu Merchantman development finds immediate echo on the forum: BMM and BMM CockPit Views already speculate on its appearance, while Can the Banu Merchantman get some upgunning/protection? advocates for increased armament on this historically vulnerable trade vessel.
Pirates, Liberator, and fundamental questions
Give us a good reason to be Pirates relaunches a fundamental debate on the economic incentive to piracy in the game, one of the most commented threads of the day across all categories. In a more practical vein, Will we be able to walk on the Liberators landing pads while in space? wonders about the accessibility of the exterior platforms of the capital ship highlighted in the Monthly Report.
The rest of the forum remains occupied by a collection of more specific topics: a capture praised for its beauty in It's beautiful!, a question about the gifting system in Gifting altered again?, a plea for the Fortune in What upside does the Fortune have? despite its modest salvage buffer gain, nostalgia for the defunct show in I Miss Inside Star Citizen, a customization request in Hangar Decorations, a cosmetic question in Vanduul Mask, a bug report in Invisible corner hitboxes on buildings, objects, a request to relax restrictions in Remove the Vanduul Tech Smugglers Mission Requirement or Fix the Mission!, a weapon suggestion in Needed - Ground Based & Hidden from Detection, and a technical question about Does boost affect top speed in the SQ42 flight model?.
💬 Reddit r/starcitizen (by theme, general sentiment)
On r/starcitizen, today's mood oscillates between community pride and rampant speculation around the Anvil Liberator, undisputed star of the day since its prominence in October's Monthly Report. The announcement of the renaming to Alpha 5.0 also makes big noise, but in relative calm, without notable outbursts. Between the two, daily verse life continues to fuel its share of touching anecdotes and setup tinkering. The Banu Merchantman issue, hot on Spectrum, finds no direct echo here.
Alpha 5.0: the name change debated
Alpha 5.0 announced (was 4.11) soberly relays the official announcement from the Roadmap Roundup, while a more detailed analysis post, 4.11 is now Alpha 5.0, what the Nyx I changes could actually mean for everyday gameplay, details what Contract Boards in Guild Halls and server subdivision by planet (DGS Planet Subdivision) could concretely change for the player day-to-day.

The Liberator, undisputed star of the day
Enthusiasm around the Anvil Liberator, highlighted in the Monthly Report, manifests in several ways: A few shots of the Liberator (FPS style) offers images of the ship seen from human height, Liberator Confirmed for IAE directly cites the Monthly Report to confirm its presence at the exhibition, and Monthly report Liberator (Left) vs OG concept Liberator! (Right) and Anvil Liberator - Current model vs old model compare the current design to its early sketches, with consensus that the wider frame is more coherent with its capital ship function. Liberator Front View completes the collection with a front view compared to the old model.

Ships, wishes, and small technical victories
Can we PLEASE get Advanced Radar? demands the promised Advanced Radar feature (F7C-R, Tracker), I wish for an Anvil Gladiator MkII.. imagines a single-seat version of the bomber, Dois RSI have one of the most well rounded Ship Selections now? praises the RSI lineup, and New Galaxy Screenshot. What are we looking at? Refinery module? speculates on a refinery module glimpsed on the RSI Galaxy, which the Monthly Report confirms passed final review. Two threads also praise today's fixes: [4.10.3 PTU] Idris T-Kit | IFR-BC7 Turret Now Has Gimbal Mounts! for the Idris turret gimbals, and I can't believe the day Assets app on mobi addressed. for the finally functional sorting of the mobiGlas Object Manager.
The small joys (and bugs) of daily life
Between a homemade joystick rail mount setup (My DIY joystick rail mounts), the joy of finally obtaining a coveted ship (At long last, my precious... 🥹), two jokes (...had to step outside to warm up., Don't let the government take your pickles!), a new player questioning a locked ship never owned (Bricked Ship in my hangar.), and impatience to see the behind-the-scenes video of October's Squadron 42 event (Uhm where's the Behind the Scenes video...?).
🕵️ Leaks & Datamining
Unofficial content from community datamining: subject to change, never confirmed by CIG.
A sixth salvage vessel spotted by mistake: the Gatac Hyun
Datamining reveals that CIG had initially included, in a version of today's patch note dedicated to increasing salvage capacities, the line "Gatac Hyun: 32 SCU → 40 SCU | Largest Box: 8 SCU (+25%)" before removing it from the final text. This mention, while brief, confirms the existence of a buffer capacity for this vessel, situated between that of the Vulture and that of the Moth.
Return of the Raptor IV missile
Also in the PTU 4.10.3 build files (13107423), datamining signals the reintegration of the Raptor IV missile, previously absent from the game.
