Star Citizen: Squadron 42 now on Steam wishlists, Twitch Drops and Runic bundle live (October 17, 2026)

Period: 16/10/2026 04:04 → 17/10/2026 04:04 UTC. Sources: YouTube, Reddit, Spectrum, Patch Notes, emails, Discord

TL;DR

🔧 Patch notes and official CIG announcements

No new patch released during the period: the LIVE version remains Alpha 4.10.2 (client and PES at CL 12913470), and the HOTFIX channel has remained closed since the last server hotfix on October 14. On the shop and official communication side, the bulk of today's activity comes through CIG's weekly email (see Emails section below) rather than new Comm-Link articles or threads signed -CIG.

📧 Emails

What CIG sent to its subscribers:

🔭 Week's Sneak Peek

Sneak Peek "Halloween Armor," accompanied by the enigmatic caption "Bad to the bone" (16/10).

The image shows what appears to be a carefully crafted piece of armor, in the vein of themed outfits that CIG usually releases as an event approaches. As with every week, caution is warranted: CIG never comments on its own teasers, and the community takes it upon itself to analyze every detail. A cluster of clues (the title and season) point toward a Halloween-related outfit, but nothing rules out an entirely different direction (new event equipment, partnership reference).

Weekly Update: RSI Constellation Mk V Centaurus

In its October 16 weekly newsletter, CIG sums up the week around the Centaurus (already extensively covered in previous editions) and brings three new elements: the launch of the new Runic shop bundle, which pairs the heavy Kilgore and Poole Monolith armor with backpack, the Gemini R97 pump-action rifle, and a paint for the Origin M80; the continuation of Twitch Drops linked to RSI Discovery Month, which allow you to unlock the Phoenix badge display for free by watching partner streams; and especially the confirmation that Squadron 42 is now available to add to wishlists on both RSI and Steam, a visibility step that had not been formalized via email until now. The email also mentions, at the very end of the message, a community video "A Bit Overkill" featured on the Community Hub.

💬 Spectrum: summary of most discussed topics

The general forum remains dominated by the same tension as the day before, but it changes face: to the general debate on Squadron 42 dubbing is added today a much more personal charge, carried by the community translators themselves. In the background, the Centaurus continues to divide two days after its release, between enthusiastic adoption and reservations about its price and maneuverability. No -CIG message came to settle anything during the observed period.

Localization, the wound reopens on the volunteer translator side

The thread For over 10 years, the French/German and Spanish communities has translated all your content for free. And you can't even honor us with proper dubbing? What a slap in the face. brings a new angle to the debate: it is no longer just about demanding dubbing, but about reminding of the volunteer translation work provided for a decade by these communities, who feel ignored today. The main thread from the previous day, Squadron 42 Deserves Full Voice Localization, continues its wild run and now exceeds 750 votes and 360 replies. In its wake, Promising voice actor translate relays the spontaneous candidacy of a voice actor eager to participate in dubbing, while Feedback on Missing German Voiceover in Squadron 42 extends the German version of the protest. Still no official CIG response recorded on the subject.

The Centaurus, between adoption and buyer's remorse

The new Constellation continues to fuel the forum on a very practical register. So I fixed it, now I will buy it. tells a change of opinion after finding settings that fix his initial reservations, while As much as I love the new "Connie", I definitely have issues with it details by contrast a list of points to fix. New mk5 conni is it just me but I prefer the mk4 and Will the Connie Mk V become the next Corsair? question its long-term place in the RSI lineup, while I would buy the Connie MK V, but... and Classic connie, gone for good or not? worry about the long-term fate of the classic Mark IV, echoing still-unconfirmed information about its withdrawal from the pledge store (see GautSlayer video in Videos section). On a more technical note, I know it says it's pressurized questions the actual pressurization of its hold, Landing pad on the MK5 debates the presence of an onboard landing platform, 100k claim for mkv centaurus and MK V Fuel usage respectively compare its insurance reclaim cost and fuel consumption to other ships in its class, and Weapon racks on Connie Mk IV not working or just bad design? reports a persistent defect on the old model.

Technical outages and frustrations of the day

Several threads report concrete issues: IS it just me or are the servers so cooked like 3 minute delays evokes unusual connection delays, Discovery Missions Not showing for anyone. (tagged Concern) reports a general failure to display event missions, What happened to the RSI Event Contracts? extends the same concern regarding contracts, and Unable to Claim Phoenix Twitch Drop relaunches already-known issues with Twitch Drops distribution, this time on the Phoenix reward. Crash recovery/relogging completes this technical picture.

Gameplay suggestions and forum life

Several improvement requests circulate: Please CIG, give us contract filters sooner rather than later. requests better sorting of available contracts, Can we remove the 'insure loadout' from the ASOP please? and We need individual thrusters back on our MFD aim at interface adjustments, and We need a black market un-bricking service sooner rather than later. requests a service to unlock items rendered unusable by bugs. Multi-crew relaunches the recurring debate on balancing between solo and multi-crew ships, and Some clarity for First Flight Game package seeks clarification on the new single starter pack recently introduced. On a more nostalgic tone, Chris, can CIG conduct a referendum on which skybox was better? proposes an informal vote on older versions of the game sky, and Request for transparency, tagged Production Schedule, requests more visibility on the development roadmap.

💬 Reddit r/starcitizen (by theme, general sentiment)

The mood remains light on the subreddit: the Centaurus continues to be the subject of showcases and benevolent technical analysis, while a handful of threads maintain enthusiasm around Squadron 42 and Nyx I. Game hiccups (finicky hangars, missions too short) are taken with the usual community perspective, between annoyance and self-deprecation.

The Centaurus under all angles

RSI Constellation Mk5 Centaurus - Cross Section details the internal layout of the ship through a complete cross-section, while Centaurus got Missiles? documents in image the loading of its 32 size-2 missile slots.

Cross-section of Constellation Mk V Centaurus Cross-section view of the Centaurus shared on Reddit (16/10).

Centaurus is the perfect solo-ship, especially if you manage power accordingly. details a power management configuration allowing effective solo piloting by cutting unused turrets, while Genuine question here cause I feel like I might be missing something nuances criticisms on its maneuverability by highlighting its good boosted rotation rates compared to the Corsair. Skylark questions, as on Spectrum, the absence of a bundled sale with its embarked fighter.

Squadron 42, growing visibility

Squadron 42 enters top 250 in Steam wishlists and 11th in wishlist activity relays a visibility statistic on Steam that matches CIG's weekly email announcement (see Emails section) confirming the opening of the wishlist. Looks like Squadron 42 has it's own twitch category now notes a new dedicated category on the streaming platform, and Squadron 42 playtest, New video soon ! announces a forthcoming video of feedback from the Manchester event.

Echoes of Nyx I and datamining rumors

These Nyx 1 Leaks Make Me Even More Excited for the Liberator! already imagines how the new planet could combine with this upcoming carrier (see Leaks section for details on ongoing testing). An unconfirmed thread also advances supposedly planned colors for the next Invictus Launch Week: Leak. IAE colors?, which cites a third-party Discord and remains to be taken with the usual cautions on this type of content.

Bugs, annoyances and humor of the day

Avoid Levski for refining ore tells of the loss of an entire mining cargo after the untimely closure of a hangar door on the player's ship, and Increase the buffer on the goddamn reclaimer already requests more generous temporary storage capacity for this capital salvager. Sharing missions in Star Citizen be like ridicules the too-short time given to accept a mission shared between teammates. On a lighter note, Starlifter is capable of lifting stars details an amusing trick of storing a mined quantanium fragment directly in a Hercules hold, and Sneak peak Friday news email relays, without further analysis, the same "Bad to the bone" Sneak Peek as detailed in the Emails section.

🎖️ Squadron 42

CIG confirmed via email that Squadron 42 is now available to add to wishlists on both RSI and Steam (see Emails section), a visibility step that had not been communicated this explicitly until now. A Reddit thread claims, on this basis, that the game has entered the top 250 Steam wishlist rankings and 11th place for wishlist activity: this figure comes only from a community source and has not been cross-checked with official data, but it confirms the general trend announced by CIG. Players also notice that a dedicated Squadron 42 category has appeared on Twitch, another sign of the game's rising visibility on third-party platforms.

On the field feedback side, creators invited to the Manchester demonstration event continue to publish their coverage: after daily debriefs from previous days, GautSlayer released a Q&A session addressing questions left by his previous videos (see Videos section), and another creator announces the upcoming publication of a new video on his own playtest experience.

🕵️ Leaks & Datamining

Unofficial content from community datamining: subject to change, never confirmed by CIG.

Datamining work on the Starchitect / Nyx I technical test (see Patch notes section of the previous edition) continues to refine. A new community survey advances this time 806 locations distributed across the planet's clusters, compared to the 857 mentioned by a previous extraction: a sign that the figure still evolves from one build to another in this test reserved for Evocati, and that none of these estimates should be taken as definitive. The Guild Halls mechanism is becoming clearer: 27 locations would host such a building, each giving access to contracts from four distinct guilds, namely the United Resource Workers (Shubin Interstellar, Adagio Holdings, Cornerstone Developments), the Academy of Science (Rayari Incorporated, Highpoint Wilderness Specialists), the Interstellar Transport Guild (FTL Courier, Ling Family Hauling, Covalex, Red Wind Linehaul) and the Mercenary Guild (Eckhart Security, Hockrow Agency, Northrock Service Group).

The 62 terraformation stations already spotted in Nyx I orbit, at 54 km altitude, are the subject of speculative connection: dataminers see a possible echo in a scene from the Squadron 42 trailer "I Held the Line," released three years ago, where a swarm of similar but much more densely packed devices appeared at the 11-minute mark. Nothing confirms this link for now, and the number itself could be only provisional.

Another detail found in the files: the "Municipal Work" mission, presented at the last CitizenCon as moved to Levski, would actually place its entry point and its three chapters in Area 18, to the right of Astro Armada under bright yellow lighting, which could indicate either a last-minute change or still-temporary content in the test files.

Finally, a more sensitive discovery circulates on leak channels: access cards ("Keycards") at multiple levels, associated with hidden passages, have been spotted in the game files. A demonstration video illustrates the mechanism without detailing how to trigger it.
