🔧 Patch notes and official CIG announcements
CIG had warned mid-week, via its usual monitoring channels, that a new RC1 of build 4.10.2 was in preparation for a possible PTU release during the day: this is now done with build 12868798, open to all waves on the PTU channel (US only, long-term persistence enabled). The focus of the test remains the same as on previous versions: stability, fixes, persistence between PTU iterations, and Stanton event missions, whose mining and salvage rewards receive a new balance pass (the detailed breakdown of this pass, from community datamining, can be found in the Leaks section).
Seven potential fixes accompany this build:
- Cargo from event transport contracts no longer appeared in the cargo elevator at the collection point, preventing any delivery (STARC-221297).
- The ship the player is tasked to protect was not present at the mission location in easy difficulty "Defend Ship" contracts.
- Transportable objects lost their "F (Carry)" interaction prompt once placed on a cargo grid, making them impossible to pick up by hand.
- The Morozov-CH Stronghold backpack displayed an empty title and description in inventory (STARC-220759).
- Weapon racks were missing on multiple ships (STARC-220813).
- Incorrect HUD text displayed when receiving rank 3 reward of the event, which now correctly names the RS-30.
- The "Eliminate Boss" event contract displayed incomplete details in mobiGlas, before and after acceptance.
Alongside the game itself, CIG released RSI launcher 2.18.1, which directly addresses a series of old annoyances. The installer has been rewritten so that each download and patch step runs in its own isolated process, which fixes installation errors 5009 and "file in use" failures when cancelling. Launcher memory consumption no longer increases in a loop as downloads are paused and resumed, the maximum number of guides displayed in the guides system goes up to 999, and access to the main organization and referral code is now available directly from the account panel. A bug was also fixed (LCH-2823): the launcher remained invisible after a display change.
Several known issues remain tracked on this version:
- A black rectangle can appear in the bottom right of the screen: disable the overlay notification in notification settings.
- A flickering launcher background affects some users, partially mitigated by disabling accessibility settings.
- The launcher sometimes fails to create StarCitizen/Live folders, causing errors 2000, 5008 or 5010: manually creating the folder and running the launcher as administrator can work around the issue.
- LCH-1030: the launcher prevents the screensaver from triggering.
- LCH-1958: an endless download loop affects some users, an issue CIG indicates it still has trouble reproducing internally.
- Language and skills desynchronization can occur when the guides system is used simultaneously on Spectrum and in the launcher.
Finally, CIG unveiled the October promotions for subscribers. Centurion subscribers receive the Behring CQ7 "Skullcap" rifle, Imperator subscribers receive the Doomsday "Skullcap" helmet and ForceFlex "Skeleton" suit, and the subscriber-exclusive shop offers a complete "Skeleton" kit. For ships of the month, Centurion subscribers get access to the Drake Pitbull, while Imperator subscribers get both the Drake Ironclad Assault and the Pitbull.

💬 Spectrum: synthesis of most discussed topics
Past yesterday's wave around "10 From the Community", the forum finds a more scattered pace: no single theme dominates everything, but a mosaic of debates on cosmetics, ships and gameplay experience, with a strong signal on the immersion question.
The immersion of outfits and equipment, a real point of contention
We need an "immersion" toogle to hide these silly immersion breaking cosmetics. gathers 63 votes and especially 94 replies, far ahead of the rest of the day: players are calling for an option to hide certain cosmetics deemed too out of place with the game's atmosphere. The subject finds concrete echo in Second Wind Armors don't have a backpack, which reports the lack of a backpack on this outfit, and in What is wrong with the Asgard????, which is irritated by the general state of the armor of the same name.
The Manchester event enters the discussions
SQ42 Playtest scores the best vote count of the day (88 votes, 26 replies): the thread questions feedback from creators invited to test Squadron 42 in the studio offices, in direct echo of Enderprize's videos (see Videos and Squadron 42).
Ships and fleet: the Constellation Mk V keeps people waiting
Connie MK5 extends the wait around the new Constellation variant, continuing from the Centaurus teaser published the day before. A bit further on, new flight model should be sq 42 exclusive, bring back the OG flight model for the PU relaunches the debate on the scope of the new flight model confirmed the day before: some players would like to reserve it for the single-player campaign and keep the old system in the persistent universe, an opinion that remains minority in the thread's votes.
The rest of the forum, between small requests and in-depth debates
Randomizing Material Spawns and A Request from Controller Players (Yes, We Exist Too!) carry two distinct gameplay requests, one on random resource distribution, the other on better support for controller players. What space actually looks like. relaunches, on a separate thread from yesterday's, the recurring debate on the visual rendering of space in the game, with 83 replies.
💬 Reddit r/starcitizen (by theme, general sentiment)
The sub alternates today between a real in-depth story, the end of the ChrisWare Offline project, and its usual flow of PTU feedback, rumors and humor. The atmosphere remains good-natured, carried by generally positive feedback on the latest tested build.
ChrisWare Offline takes its leave
The Offline Star Citizen mod project has been shut down by CIG announces the news, and ChrisWare Offline has shut down, and what happens next provides the detail: according to its maintainer's account, CIG sent a formal request identifying an XML mission file containing content protected by the studio, and indicates separately examining the launcher and patches used to run the game offline. The project's GitHub repository was removed following this notification. This outcome closes the file opened the day before around the removal of a post relaying this same project.
Build 4.10.2 gets good feedback
VR Scopes Are Perfect Now - 4.10.2 PTU confirms in the field the zoom alignment in VR announced in patch notes, and [PTU] Physics are better, sound is still bad. hails a marked improvement in physics, perceptible as a concrete effect of the physical objects network overhaul, while regretting still disappointing explosion sounds. Everyone is so small in VR shares a first VR experience on Steam Frame, generally enthusiastic despite some graphical artifacts and a strange impression of character scale. Behind the scenes, (Tuesday) We are currently putting together a new 4.10.2 RC1 build for a potential ptu release later today relayed, the day before, the announcement that led to today's RC1 build 12868798 release (see Patch notes).
Rumors and unconfirmed testimonies
Javelin QT Boosting on Nyx 1 - Star Citizen reports, without official confirmation, the observation of a Javelin capable of quantum jumping and boosting in the Nyx system. A separate thread, «The FM feature work for S42 is completed», YogiKlatt, Januar 1st, 2026, pulls out a screenshot of a quote nine months old to compare it to yesterday's official announcement on the new flight model: this is an old document resurfaced by the community, not a new CIG statement.
Guides, bugs and game life
Guide: Ship paint gone after claiming? Here's how to get it back (Star Citizen) explains how to recover a ship paint lost after an uninsured claim. BTR Racetrack problem documents, with an Issue Council report attached, a bug that moves racing buggies once players sit in them. More concerning, Grimhex denounces players locking access to the station by exploiting game mechanics to harass others, without the author detailing the method used, behavior deemed as pure griefing rather than legitimate piracy.
Ships, humor and community life
Polaris Appreciation Post celebrates this large combat ship despite its high price, while Not a bad solo mole run illustrates a successful solo mining session, not without complaining in passing about ore loss during refining. On the humor side, Captain Picard and crew enter the Persistent Universe: parodies Star Trek for an amusing capture, Every time I walk through ARC-L1's refinery, the music from the end of Terminator 2 starts playing in my head draws the comparison with the cult film, and Sir, Please Move Your Ship as Really? each share their share of little frustrations turned into mockery, the latter making fun of a mission that sends the player to the opposite end of the system for three minutes of useful travel.
A player celebrates their Polaris, which they hadn't planned to buy anyway (October 6).
🎖️ Squadron 42
Several content creators, including Enderprize, announce flying this week to CIG's Manchester offices for a press event not publicly detailed by the studio. According to their own account, at least six other streamers participate in the same trip to try Squadron 42 for approximately five hours and meet the development team on site. On Spectrum, the thread SQ42 Playtest picks up the news and questions what these sessions might reveal about the current state of the campaign. These are for now creator testimonies and community discussions, CIG having published no official announcement on this event in the covered window.

New iteration of IASI mission rewards on build 12868798
A detailed review of the latest PTU build shows that the balance pass on mining and salvage missions of the Stanton event, officially announced in patch notes, continues to shift from one iteration to the next. For refined resource missions, rewards drop significantly: refined Iron delivery goes from 483 points and 101,250 aUEC to 408 points and 85,500 aUEC, refined Beryl from 780 points and 206,250 aUEC to 669 points and 176,500 aUEC, and refined Quantanium from 1,142 points and 340,250 aUEC to 1,142 points and 317,250 aUEC, the latter mission splitting its points among group members. The Ling supply delivery mission drops slightly, from 417 points and 82,750 aUEC to 417 points and 78,500 aUEC.
Conversely, UCM contracts related to salvage rebound compared to the previous build: the UCM (S) contract, playable in Salvation, Vulture or Fortune, goes from 85 points and 14,250 aUEC to 183 points and 30,250 aUEC for 1 SCU of construction debris, the UCM (M) contract in Moth from 158 points and 26,250 aUEC to 255 points and 42,250 aUEC for 39 SCU of construction parts, and the UCM (L) contract in Reclaimer from 250 points and 52,250 aUEC to 486 points and 101,750 aUEC for 250 SCU of construction scrap. For the latter contract, delivery points would also have been moved from a Lagrange station to a low orbit station and an urban spaceport, to allow landing and emptying a Reclaimer there. Finally, the "Scavenger Hunt" event mission would be disabled on this build. These figures remain those of a test build and can still evolve before any Live release.
