🔧 Patch notes and official CIG announcements
The LIVE version remains Alpha 4.10.1 (build 12650677), in place since September 16, with Orison Relief Support still active and long-term persistence preserved. CIG prepared a new 4.10.2 build overnight, distributed to Evocati (NDA) under build number 12702947, ahead of a broader PTU rollout.
This build focuses on stability and fixes between two PTU releases, with two main new features:
- A new event in Stanton: a dedicated mobiGlas tab, a progress tracking interface, a journal entry, and a rewards scale accompany new contracts to find in the contracts manager. CIG does not yet provide a name for this event in its official notes (see the Leaks section below for what datamining reveals).
- A VR features test: VR now activates automatically as soon as it's enabled in the Launcher, without additional in-game setup. A new VR zoom applies to F-key interaction, ship precision targeting, and ADS or scope aiming in FPS, with a « Zoom Gameplay Strength » option to reduce or disable the effect. Precision targeting temporarily recenters the view on the target to stabilize the image and limit motion sickness. GroundedLook mode now correctly uses the aiming vector for hand mining, and in Freelook, the tractor beam can be oriented by head movements, aligning ATLS maneuverability in VR with desktop controls.
Among other adjustments: shield resistance now functions correctly when minimum and maximum values are set identically (the old restriction canceled resistance in this specific case), abandoned ship cleanup extends to Everus Harbor, Seraphim Station, Bajini Point, and Port Tressler, and the eyebrow opacity tint slider in the character customizer reverts to default 0, matching hair and beard.
On fixes, two potential client crashes are addressed (one in the vehicle landing gear system, another in chat related to corrupted entity crossing). The list of potential fixes is particularly extensive:
- Several mission types displayed « Contract Unavailable » once accepted from mobiGlas.
- Combat Supplies cargo was being identified as ship ammunition by the tractor beam and cargo elevator, blocking certain missions.
- Battaglia Story 2 mission wouldn't complete after handing over the hard drive and talking to Battaglia.
- Compilation issues and file paths prevented some courier missions from generating correctly.
- Vehicles sometimes became unresponsive after quantum jumps under poor network conditions.
- The cargo elevator platform was getting stuck in raised position when cargo was present and doors closed after state recovery.
- Remaining cargo would disappear on SingleToMulti transport missions when everything had been delivered to the first point then lowered twice by the elevator.
- Refunded transport cargo was being consumed or incorrectly modifying remaining cargo.
- Drake Cutlass (all variants) would right itself when lowering the rear ramp, preventing entry via side doors.
- Cutlass decals on the right wing remained visible after material was salvaged.
- Players were incorrectly flagged for trespassing at Cry-Astro sites during legal delivery missions; off-world sites and distribution centers controlled by outlaws are now excluded from delivery location searches.
- Spawning a Drake Caterpillar with assigned crew didn't fill the pilot seat; AI pilots placed in parasite vessels at takeoff are now supported.
- The airlock doors of the Siege of Orison command center were opening unexpectedly during the confrontation with Mendo Ren.
- Siege of Orison communication towers no longer rotated after node resets.
- Battaglia salvage objective would drop to 0% before the majority of the target hull was scraped.
- Orison Relief Support event salvage contracts could be completed fast enough to loop the entire event and earn a disproportionate amount of aUEC: a fix closes this exploit.
- Event patrol contracts were blocked by satellite placement, salvage ships weren't respawning, and elimination mission AI behaved poorly.
- Odyssey II Racing Helmet Alpha had no neck padding with certain outfits.
- Skullcap helmet rendering merged draw calls poorly, and glass refraction was incorrectly set.
- Retrieved Gladius Dunlevy no longer had its SQ42 decals on the control surfaces and wing rears.
- Nyx Rock Cracker dungeon refractor network codes displayed as « 0000 » though they still functioned.
- Habitat area bathroom door changed level of detail abruptly from distance.
- Size 00 radars could present a negative group sensitivity multiplier.
- Yormandi eye orbit lost its red texture when the eye was removed.
- Players couldn't submit multiple mission items at once in the same cargo elevator.
- A main thread lock on the mission factory service occurred during universe hierarchy recording.
- Event platform stairway ramps caused movement issues.
- TH-01 Propulsor fabricator description displayed overlapping text.
- Vehicle tires appeared to vibrate intermittently.
- Landing gear and bone-attached part movement vectors didn't account for the previous frame, causing ghosting artifacts.
- Lephari radar was classified as Class A in the VMA instead of Class C.
- LMG Demeco « Streamline » attachment description omitted the word « Barrel ».
- Red eye glow effect on Skullcap helmet disappeared from distance.
- Ground vehicle track animations didn't animate with vehicle movement.
- Event platform albedo tint displayed in pure black.
- Relay race and event rental mission descriptions contained incorrect text.
Separately, CIG confirmed there would be no Roadmap Update or Roadmap Roundup this week: Alpha 4.11 development is proceeding without notable changes to report, with the next update in two weeks. The week's schedule otherwise includes the weekly RSI newsletter Friday and a Bar Citizen in Porto Saturday.
CIG also announced the launch of a new show, 10 From the Community, starting October 5. The format: a short-form show focused on player questions, with each episode featuring several developers from the same domain (gameplay, art, UI, technology, ships...) answering them. The first episode will cover gameplay and content systems, and players can already submit and vote on their questions in the dedicated thread.

💬 Spectrum: synthesis of most discussed topics
The general forum remains under considerable strain, and overnight marks even a new intensification: two new threads immediately settle among the most voted of the period, one becoming the most engaged of the entire panel with over 300 votes. No official CIG responses were noted across all these threads. Yet the picture isn't uniformly dark: several positive or simply curious voices slip into the mix, proof that the forum retains more than one facet.
The unease doesn't weaken, and two new threads dominate the night
OG 2012 backer, it's my time also to speak up establishes itself as the most discussed thread of the period with 333 votes and 134 replies, driven by testimony from one of the project's earliest contributors. It's joined by Why I'm losing faith in CIG and Star Citizen (133 votes, 54 replies), continuing in the same existential vein. Already-established threads are also continuing to grow: Everything Feels so Pointless goes from 174 to 207 votes in one day, Is this the beginning of the end of this project? climbs from 125 to 138 votes, I haven't felt like this project is moving forward for months from 124 to 183 votes, and I have a feeling CIG will halt SC development once 1.0 is released continues its more modest progression (26 votes vs 18 the previous day). Criticism of the studio's marketing, which appeared yesterday with the EA comparison, continues in Thoughts from a 10+ year backer on recent marketing decisions (78 votes, 40 replies).
The studio and its working methods questioned
Several threads tackle CIG's internal operations tonight rather than the game itself. I think there needs to be a lesson on Regression Control (32 votes, 35 replies) criticizes the studio for regularly reintroducing previously fixed bugs. STOP BEING GREEDY ? (28 votes, 64 replies) targets the game's commercial policy, while Where are we at With The Backlog of "Non-Engineering" Ships? (14 votes, 17 replies) worries about delays in ships that pose no particular technical challenge. Confusion around Squadron 42 comes up again with Its wild for all the "Open Development" talk that we know so little about squadron 42 and the future of star citizen (46 votes, 23 replies). A more concrete request slips in with CIG : Can you add the backpack for the armor reward ? (96 votes, 17 replies), requesting the addition of a missing backpack to an armor reward.
Orison, the « bricking » mechanic, and bugs that cost money
Following criticism of its cost yesterday, Siege of Orison continues generating discussion: I just lost 2.86 million aUEC because a broken hangar destroyed my ship – this is ridiculous climbs from 31 to 51 votes, and a separate question worries about weapon attachments becoming unusable in Are some weapon attachments becoming bricked?, a direct echo of the more extensive debate held the same day on Reddit about the « bricking » mechanic (see below). A more measured note comes from Orison, the best event for now (13 votes, 15 replies), defending the event against the wave of criticism, while Orison Relief event requires a disproportionate amount of time and effort from new players with starter tier ships conversely points out its difficulty of access for new players.
Rebalancing, endless debates, and some positive voices
The third TTK/TTD test continues dividing in Changing TTK between PVE and PVP will only widen the skill gap (34 votes vs 23 the previous day), and the pay-to-win debate picks up again in P2W is it or isnt it? Hopefully an end to the debate (38 replies for only 6 votes). But the forum isn't uniformly dark: The FPS Experience in SC is actually SO GOOD garnered 82 replies in a notably more enthusiastic tone, Hot take: I liked the ikti bundle defends a contrarian view with 126 replies, and the desire for a mecha-style Anvil continues growing in Anvil Mecha? yes pls! (30 votes vs 15 the previous day). A more technical criticism targets visual rendering in Dear Graphics Team – please stick to the physics (48 replies), and an old request resurfaces in Starter Ship Only Server (61 replies). More occasionally, there's also nostalgia for the technical promises from CitizenCon 2022 still pending, a question about the existence of a tabletop RPG-style Star Citizen rulebook, a wish for a torpedo module for the Retaliator, and curiosity about the Cutlass design origin.
💬 Reddit r/starcitizen (by theme, general sentiment)
The atmosphere on r/starcitizen follows a trajectory similar to Spectrum, with genuine frustration over content release pace and recurring bugs, but the subreddit maintains its identity of screenshots, creative works, and humor, far from being as dark as the official forum.
A content release pace still contested
This Week in Star Citizen...nothing! captures the ambient frustration well: its author worries about video content frequency dropping to one publication per month versus three or four per week at its 2018 peak, except for shop videos. In anticipation of no video content again extends the same concern wondering when a live format like SCL will return. The official announcement today of a new show, « 10 From the Community » (see the Patch notes section), could partially address this expectation, though none of these threads mention it yet.

Bugs, irritations, and small daily victories
Even with the systems and engines completely powered down, the interior of the Clipper's engine is still running and making noise questions this persistent noise, bug or intentional detail unexplained by CIG. It's not SC's fault…. It's mine documents a blocking bug where the character remains stuck looking upward, resisting any server change or restart. A more structural debate takes place in The "Bricking" mechanic is actively killing the Sandbox, which, linking to the Issue Council, explains that this anti-duplication system meant to prevent ship cloning for insurance has side effects judged disproportionate on in-game piracy, a direct echo to the Spectrum thread about « bricked » weapon attachments mentioned above. On the positive side, new work around for grayed out retrieve button shares a workaround to prevent the ASOP retrieve button from staying grayed out, by leaving your ship on the pad when logging off. Finally Played for 6 hours without bugs provides a positive counterpoint, with a feedback of several hours hauling between Pyro and Stanton without major incidents.
Pirate Code treasure hunt and various curiosities
The community continues working on the Pirate Code puzzle, a scavenger hunt held since Pirate Week using clues scattered by CIG, without the final code having been cracked at this stage according to players. A thread also relays statements attributed to a CIG member in the latest This Week in Star Citizen newsletter, according to which the final clue would be hidden in the image accompanying the official post, information reported by the community and not directly verified in our sources. On a more playful note, What if the Galaxy was actually larger? proposes a visual redesign imagining an RSI Galaxy enlarged by 5% per tier to better exploit landing platform sizes, and Why are there no knife slots on flight suits? questions the disappearance of an inventory seen in an old Squadron 42 demo. A more practical question finally asks for a 2D map system to navigate more simply than the current 3D map.
Screenshots, creative works, and humor
The creative register remains vibrant with I love flying this weird little shrimp, celebrating the atypical appearance of a small ship.
I love flying this weird little shrimp, published 21/09.
Humor is alive and well with Welcome to Blood Gulch Outpost #1!, a nod to Red vs Blue around an outpost divided into two bases, Why is there a chocolate bar piercing my hand?, documenting a funny visual glitch, and Warning altitude., just a snapshot of a tense flight moment. Community wordplay and private jokes continue with Let's play again: name a tractor beam more useless than the Reliant Kore's, "We have the Merchantman at home", joking about improvised cargo in an Idris, and an admitted joke about a plan to multiply aUEC in Flawless plan for infinite AUEC (« What could possibly go wrong? »). Finally, The Star Citizen UI revisits the habits players develop with the game's interface, and Will it be? Hopium illustrates, without great precision, the hope tinged with irony that runs through part of the community.
🕵️ Leaks & Datamining
Unofficial content from community datamining: subject to change, never confirmed by CIG.
Datamining of EPTU 4.10.2 allows putting a name to the new Stanton event announced soberly in official notes: it would be « Visiting IASI », a points event following the same model already seen with Alliance Aid, with three secondary scales plus one global scale. The global scale would total 30,000 points with tiers at 9,000, 21,000, 27,000, and 30,000 points, and each secondary scale aims for 10,000 points with tiers at 1,000, 5,000, and 10,000. No rewards are currently associated with these tiers. 32 missions would be offered by usual contractors (Foxwell, Northrock, Covalex, Ling, FTL, Shubin, Adagio, United Wayfarers Club, and a new « IASI » contractor), each rewarding 100 points without sharing among group members. The same datamining confirms that Orison Relief Support sees its rewards significantly scaled back: the « Small » material order would go from 133,250 to 29,750 aUEC, the « Medium » from 200,000 to 36,250 aUEC, and the « Large » from 250,750 to 53,500 aUEC, which very likely corresponds to the official fix aimed at closing the possibility of completing the event too quickly for disproportionate gain (see the Patch notes section).
Also on the balance side, the RSI Constellation (all variants) would see its maximum ammunition capacity for energy weapons go from a 1.75x multiplier to 3x, and four new flight paths (maneuverability and speed) would be added for the Aurora Mk II, Mantis, Meteor, and Zeus ES/CL.
On the cosmetic side, a new heavy armor Monolith (Kilgore & Poole) would be added with five visible variants (Liquidator, Tsunami, Sandhawk, Serpentine, plus at least one promotional variant and one linked to Wikelo):
Monolith Armor Sets, variants dated 21/09.
A new Wikelo F55 LMG (still without official name) and a Li'tova Meditation t-shirt complete the batch of upcoming items, along with new paint jobs for the Ursa Rover, Scorpius, and Greycat MXC. A Reddit post also relays, citing « Oshida over at Pipeline » as an unofficial source, a rumor that the « Best in Show » prize colors from Ship Showdown (awarded to finalists Percy, M80, ICA, and Corsair) would take on a neon blue close to Orison relief effort: at this stage, neither the winner's name nor these colors are confirmed by an official source.
Finally, a complete plan and schedule of IAE 2956 circulate, citing among notable ships the RSI Galaxy, RSI Constellation Mk V Andromeda, RSI Skylark, Greycat MFC, Drake Marauder, Anvil HM6 Auxilia, Anvil Liberator, and Gatac Hyūn.
IAE 2956 exhibition hall plan, dated 21/09.
A scribbled organization emblem, resembling the Empyreal organization's emblem, also circulates without confirmation of its origin or intended use.
