🔧 Patch notes and official CIG announcements
Alpha 4.10 continues its progression in PTU Wave 1 (US only), with Long Term Persistence activated: no wipe on the horizon for players already testing this build.
Build 4.10.0-PTU.12344240
Published by Shark-CIG, this build displays version VERSION 4.10.0-PTU.12344240. The testing focus remains identical to previous builds: stability and fixes, LTP between PTU publications, Siege of Orison instanced, hydrogen fuel rebalancing, and the Arlington lever rifle.
The big gameplay addition is the arrival of Orison Relief Support: in the wake of the NineTails raid on Orison, the faction requests help rebuilding the city and supporting affected civilians. Players will need to deliver materials, medical supplies, craft useful items, and more. CIG warns upfront of a bug preventing completion of Small, Medium, and Large crafting missions in this publication.
On the technical side, 3 client crashes and 2 server crashes were fixed. The list of potential fixes is dense:
- The exhaust vent fan at Klescher's rehabilitation facility now behaves correctly again.
- Mineable objects now correctly report their destruction (the destroyed entity is properly identified).
- Repairs from landing services work again for players owning multiple vehicles.
- Audio processing was freed up to support more simultaneous commands, with duplicate removal.
- The claim timer for insured and free loadouts, deemed too long, was reworked.
- An obsolete loot configuration was removed.
- Heavy armor mass increased from 80 kg to 160 kg.
- Overlapping filters on hover and selection in the inventory UI are fixed.
- The Vanduul Scythe neutron cannon mesh is repaired.
- The command module works correctly with Ironclad materials (temporary fix).
- Vanduul ships reappear correctly during bounty and ship defense missions.
- The irradiated adult Valakkar regains its spit attack.
Nine known issues remain to watch on this build:
- The TH-01 thruster is not properly physicalized during the Orison Relief Support mission: impossible to deliver once crafted, and may block elevators.
- A ship remains in claim status after insurance claim or free loadout selection, with risk of being marked as captured.
- Siege of Orison V2 instancing elevator call panels lack UI.
- The force field portal displaying "STANDBY" at Overworld has a chance of not opening.
- Battaglia doesn't follow the generic repeatable missions flow if available, which currently blocks mission 3.
- The elevator to the instance moves after a noticeable delay once the button is pressed.
- The client may freeze for a few seconds at the second force field during main instance full load.
- Severe performance drop occurs when approaching the Solanki platform.
- ARGO ATLS IKTI can remain stuck in the ground after a high-fall.
On Discord, CIG also indicated work on a new 4.10 build with a possible additional PTU publication during the day, a sign that the iteration rate on this version remains sustained.
Roadmap Roundup of July 29
CIG published its Roadmap Roundup of July 29, which moves several Alpha 4.10 cards to Committed status:
- The "BUL-H4" heavy combat armor.
- Instancing, the technical pillar of Siege of Orison.
- Vehicle loadout recovery improvements.
- Siege of Orison itself.
- Tank and fuel consumption rebalancing.
- New ship offers at Wikelo.
- The "Vendetta" HMG by Apocalypse Arms.
- The "Arlington" lever rifle by Hedeby Gunworks.
- The new weapon accessory, Hedeby Gunworks S2 optic.
Mission giver Recco Battaglia remains Tentative, with CIG continuing to implement her and her missions for a future Alpha 4.10 PTU build.

💬 Spectrum: synthesis of most discussed topics
The general forum buzzes with a mix of communication fatigue and excitement around Foundation Festival. The dominant tone is one of weariness toward the pace of official announcements, with persistent technical grumbling in the background, but without major direct CIG response on the most voted threads of the day.
The discomfort around communication and content
The thread setting the tone is titled Another roadmap, and nothing about DSM, Genesis... what's going on with Star Citizen this year? (47 votes, 23 replies): its author worries about the lack of news on major projects like Dynamic Server Meshing or Genesis engine in the latest Roadmap Roundups. The thread Any news regarding the importance of solo players? exploded with 150 replies for 63 votes, proof that the question of space for solo players in a multi-crew game continues to divide. This sense of prolonged silence echoes the older but still very active thread ANOTHER week of no video content (113 votes, 55 replies), which criticizes CIG for lack of regular weekly video content. In a similar vein, the constant Features over stability issues faults the team for prioritizing new features over stability, a complaint that resonates with the long list of known issues in today's 4.10 build.
Foundation Festival: enthusiasm and friction
The free fly launch is not universally welcomed. Twitch Drop requirements are alienating the core playerbase racks up 65 replies denouncing drop conditions deemed too demanding for veteran players, while Free flight plus Foundation Festival showing new players the game in this state is going to be rough... worries that the current game state (bugs, instability) will make a bad impression on newcomers attracted by the event. These are not the first concerns: the announcement thread Foundation Festival Free Fly Begins Wed 29th had already crystallized anticipations beforehand. Lighter in tone, dedicated threads about event cosmetics circulate, like Foundation Festival Guide Armor and Foundation Festival - Freelancer Skin?.
Bugs, performance and CIG confirmations
The thread Desync continues to dominate with 148 votes and 70 replies, a sign that desynchronization remains a major friction point despite its age. More specific, Data.p4k bad after latest patch. Known issue? and Server Errors attest to installation and connection issues reported by players. The topic TDD issue preventing mineral sales – Mining progression blocked finds direct echo on Reddit, where a player confirms that CIG acknowledged the broken cargo mission problem.
- Gameplay and balance debates remain numerous: Light fighters don't need a quantum range buff, Multi-Crew Quality of Life, Ballistic Compromise – Let Shields Protect Hull & Modules, Not Just Absorb Some Damage and Reworking Salvage: Moving beyond the current loop.
💬 Reddit r/starcitizen (by theme, general sentiment)
The subreddit's mood oscillates between self-mockery and genuine concern: several highly commented posts frankly acknowledge bugs and optimization problems, in a more resigned than enraged tone, while Foundation Festival and Ship Showdown bring their share of good humor and creativity.
Accepted self-critique
The day's most emblematic post, I thought Star Citizen was just bugs and bad optimization. I was wrong., recounts the disappointment of a veteran Arma 3 player who thought he'd seen every buggy game. In the same vein, You know the game's having problems when even BoredGamer is highlighting issues darkly jokes that an usually measured creator now points out the game's issues. This direct echo to Spectrum's "Features over stability" theme shows real community convergence on the stability question.
Screenshot illustrating growing concerns over game stability (07/29).
The daily grind of bugs
Several posts detail specific grievances: ships riding the hangar elevator with engines on rather than off as before, the "Mission: Impossible" mission requiring mining 115 asteroids to unlock the Mole after Recco Battaglia missions, or weapon sights seeing through face armor reflections. On a more positive note, Cargo issue is known and worked on relays the first official confirmation of the broken cargo missions issue, and One thing 4.9 got right praises the disappearance of wormholes that spat players back into their starting system.
Ship Showdown 2956 and Foundation Festival
The annual contest is in full swing with posts of admitted propaganda: The MOTH Has Chosen. | Ship Showdown 2956 Poster, Ship Showdown 2956 : Clipper is freedom, choose freedom and Day 1 of being a Gatac Fanboy (Ship Showdown propaganda), extending his campaign for the Syulen and Railen. The Roadmap Roundup Changes, 29th July 2026 mechanically relays the official announcement already covered above, and Star Citizen twitch Drops are live confirms drops activation echoing the day's YouTube videos.
Community summary of Roadmap Roundup changes (07/29).
Creativity and atmosphere
Fan art holds a strong place, with a Vulture drawing offered as wallpaper for the ongoing event, or amusing screenshots like Today's Darwin Award Goes Too... and Of frigging course. The community mining minigame ROCKBREAKER, now playable by all, also illustrates the vitality of the creative scene around the game.
- Other subjects to note: New Star Citizen Download page, with system requirements, Quantum Fuel changes are in 4.10 PTU and What armor is this?.
🕵️ Leaks & Datamining
Unofficial content from community datamining: subject to change, never confirmed by CIG.
The dataminer followed on dedicated channels published an important correction on quantum jump distances: his initial estimate gave the Idris a ridiculously short range of 75 Gm, when the correct value should actually be 556 Gm, a formula error now rectified.
On the content of PTU build 4.10.0-12335477, several crafting discoveries were documented. Five new blueprint pools were added, all mining-related:
- Golem Mining Pods (Battaglia).
- Mole/Prospector Mining Pods (Battaglia).
- Prospector Mining Pods.
- Active Mining Module Stampede.
- Passive Mining Module Torrent III.
Each pool currently contains only one object, and none are yet linked to a mission, making them unobtainable in their current state. Details of new craftable items specify that Golem's Mining Pods (Battaglia) require 0.3 SCU of iron with minimum 800Q quality for 1m35 crafting time, but currently produce no result; same for Mole/Prospector Mining Pods (Battaglia), which demand 0.75 SCU of iron at minimum 800Q. Non-Battaglia versions (Golem, Mole/Prospector, Prospector, Active Mining Module Stampede) use standard iron instead, sometimes supplemented with copper for the Stampede module.
Excerpt from community spreadsheet tracking tank and quantum drive changes in build 4.10 (07/29).
The quantum tank and drive tracking spreadsheet was also updated: the F8A was removed from the list (its -99% quantum change made calculations poorly exploitable, and the ship isn't usable anyway currently), and the Wikelo War Special Base Guardian entry had to be manually corrected, CIG having assigned an S1 quantum drive (VK-00) instead of the expected S2 in the ship's loadout. Overall, green dominates far more than in the 4.9 PTU edition, even if some red remains: the average change observed is +50% quantum capacity, with a minimum of -75% (still the Idris) and a notably positive maximum for large haulers.
