Monthly Report September: Kraken, Galaxy, Mk IV and Two Unannounced Ships (October 8, 2026)
In its September PU Monthly Report, CIG details progress on the Kraken in LOD0, the RSI Galaxy and the Constellation Mk IV Gold Standard, and says two unannounced ships have completed their final reviews to launch alongside Genesis. PTU 4.10.2 also moves to RC2, and the Roadmap Roundup will wait for the Live release.
In the PU Monthly Report for September 2026, CIG reviews progress team by team over the past month. Ships take up a large share of the document, but the report also sheds light on several gameplay and technology projects. Meanwhile, PTU Alpha 4.10.2 moves to RC2, and CIG has postponed the release of its Roadmap Update.
Ships: Kraken, Galaxy, Mk IV and Liberator
The Kraken continues its LOD0 work, spread across the entire ship. CIG cites the implementation of integrated transit, elevators and tram included, along with key components distributed across several engineering rooms.
The RSI Constellation Mk IV Gold Standard is progressing across its four variants. Teams have fixed visual issues tied to the modernized materials and improved the placement of navigation and interactions.
The RSI Galaxy has passed its greybox review and enters LOD0. The work covers corridors, walls, lighting, signage and modules.
The Anvil Liberator has completed its greybox. A validation review is scheduled for early October, with LOD0 targeted for late October. Another ship, already mentioned, has also cleared greybox: its interior is ready for a LOD0 review and its exterior should follow in early October.
Two Unannounced Ships Ready for Genesis
In the UK, two unannounced vehicles have completed their final reviews ahead of a release alongside Genesis. Their identity is not specified. Five new projects have also started: one is advancing quickly, another reaches whitebox with turret and tractor beam changes, a third enters pre-production, and two ships from a returning manufacturer move into whitebox.
Another unannounced ship is receiving interface, visual effects and sound passes ahead of a combined LOD0 and final review planned for October. In North America, production of yet another unannounced ship has been completed following internal testing and bug fixes.
Gameplay and Technology
Several topics stand out in the report:
- Claims: the network team has developed this new system for assigning planets, activities and events instanced to servers.
- Bootstrap: the initiation phase of the client overhaul is complete, the technology stack has been chosen and a prototype exists. The client rebuild has begun.
- Hex 4.0: Live Tools has completed the second part of the upgrade, with rebuilt account and listing pages, group views with chat, and refined search and tabs.
- Apex Valakkar: the AI receives improvements to targeting and shot curvature, with a fallback timer against blockages before diving or resurfacing. Animation is working on its major attacks against ships.
- Characters: a new heavy armor is finalized for 4.10.2, offered as a reward for the Wikelo event and in the store. The Nyx gangs (First Legion, Salamanders, Shattered Blades, Moraine) are updated, with new sets for First Legion and Salamanders.
- Missions: more than 97 new contracts are in preparation for a future patch, and two new factions representing non-combat careers have been approved. Bounty missions will be rebalanced to match recent ship updates, in a future patch.
On the Core Gameplay side, CIG mentions fixes in line with the Comm-Link Improving the Live Experience: more precise refueling at docks, corrected cargo elevators, and collision checks restored for quantum travel and the Starmap.
PTU 4.10.2 RC2 and Roadmap Schedule
PTU 4.10.2 moves to RC2 on the channel open to all waves, US servers only, with long-term persistence enabled. The main addition is quantum jump markers for the Stanton event platforms, now accessible from the Starmap without having to spot them visually.
In its This Week in Star Citizen of October 5, CIG specified that the Roadmap Update and the Roadmap Roundup will only be published after the Live release of 4.10.2. The next public update of the production roadmaps is therefore delayed accordingly.
Context
The report comes a few days after the first NDA Evocati test of Genesis (Planet Tech V5), launched overnight from October 2 to 3 and limited to Nyx I. The mention of updated Nyx gangs and contracts tied to the Nyx I release, touched on in the narrative side, fits into this sequence.
What we still don't know
The report does not name the two ships ready for Genesis, nor the Genesis release date. The identity of the five new projects is not known. No date is given for the rollout of the bounty rebalancing or for the more than 97 contracts.
The next signal to watch is the Live release of 4.10.2, which determines when the Roadmap Update and Roadmap Roundup will be published.
